Years ago I was invited to go on a buffalo hunt on a reservation because of the casino business I was in. Not really my cup of tea but I did it. I ate dinner the night before, went to bed at 7 PM. I started driving the next morning at 5 AM, we drove up towards the mountain and then in the back of a pick up truck traveled up the mountain. We hiked and walked, got stuck etc etc. The point is , I finally got to eat 3 dry bologna sandwiches at 5 PM that next day. I have been lucky enough to have eaten at many fine restaurants across this country but I was so famished on that trip, those sandwiches seriously stands out as the best meal I have ever had. I guess you would get my point.

Well 30 years ago I would have said Buffalo steaks & bread, but no buffalo here in New England, but goat or lamb chops with greens & mashed potato are pretty good, & of course lonewolf's cottage pie is first rate. I think we are having home made pizza tonight which is also pretty good.

A similar experience happened to me this month when we were going to Hong Kong. After boarding the plane, there was a technical problem and the flight was delayed for 2 hours. We were just sitting there inside the plane and no air conditioning. Making matters worse, my stomach was conditioned to eat already but we had to wait. When finally the plane took off and within 30 minutes food was served. I grabbed the oatmeal cookies and hastily took a bite because I was so hungry. That oatmeal cookie was the best I had tasted.

It's hard to pick a favorite meal I like so many things. I will never turn down a great meatloaf and mashed potatoes meal though..green beans and peas and apple crisp float my boat, but I also love Italian and Mexican so there you go!

Hello everyone! My favourite thing to eat while camping many years ago, was an apple literally covered in mud and baked under red hot stones. I did not think I could eat it at first but it turned out to be a great breakfast ,much to my surprise.

When I was in jungle warfare school we did that with fish and Chicken we would gut the fish and Chicken leveing the scales and feathers on and pack in clay and straw and then put down in the coals for a few hours and take out and bust in to the clay the scales and feathers would come off with the clay and you would have a really good tasteing meal

Wow!, Dried mud just falls off the food after having cooked it ,doesn't it? I mean , I don't remember having had any 'soil' after taste or anything like that. Makes me think that maybe we clean our food way too much these days...

I would say my favorite meals are based on beef and chicken.

They are the two types of food that I eat most at lunch and dinner. There's always a new recipe to put into practice (and I love trying new culinary experiences... it's very interesting and exciting to my taste :)).

I think it doesn't really mater what it is but if you are hungry enough anything that you eat just tastes great. I don«t doubt that they were good but if you weren't in the state that you were in you would never remember those sandwiches. Most meals are memorable not because of what you are eating but the surroundings when you are it the meal.

Any meal that contains fatty substances does it for me. I usually take a simple two course meal. Because of research pointing to the risky nature of saturated eats, I relish consumption of avocado. Any meal with these is festive enough.

Tomorrow is my birthday... I will have surf and turf!! Steak off the pit, with fried shrimp and fried fish on the side served with steak fries and banana pudding for desert. It don't get better than that.
