I have a hunch many of the National Guard orgs of states and territories will be working the wildfire / natural disaster portfolios and phase out of "pure" military operations.

IMO, Serbia - and other new places - in NATO are in a pro-forma org at best. True, they get a box of nice letterhead stationery and a flag ... both are colorful.... but NATO is long gone as a defensive org. Germany lost to the Nord Sea pipeline and France never full returned to military NATO. Now, the treaty is only US, UK and a couple of small allies although substantially augmented by NGOs.

The article mentions the California use of their National Guard base for their "Mediterranean fruit fly prevention team". How revealing ! A big cost because of the aviation component was transferred to the public sector from the private ag companies.

Sacremento still can't get USDA crop insurance for their new marijuana harvests. Maybe it has to do with sanctuary cities and that august assembly in Sacramento.

Speaking of crops and pests: "Drain the Swamp" !
