Yes, it is, but they are of very good build quality - I use the LA10 lantern under the tarp line on my hammock set up. I'm very please with it.
Why not headlamp? If you need torch you might wanna go with something more versatile (more feature) or more powerful (powerful enough to send morse signal) Example with 365mm UV ; Streamlight Night Com® UV Nitecore® CU6 More powerful + RGB ;
For that kind of money, I'd go with a larger unit that could also be used as a weapon. Cops carry flashlights (what we Yanks call lanterns) that use several "D" cell batteries. These puppies are made of strong (yet not that heavy) metals. With them you can light somebody up and beat somebody down. Thanks Varuna, but I don't need a more powerful torch - although the one you showed looks pretty impressive. I was thinking more along the lines of the adaptability of the torch to a lantern. I have an LA10 but that does not have the torch facility. I was hoping to find someone who had bought one that might say "yes, great product" or "having bought one I think I'm better with a torch"
