I think that is a good price, but I would prefer flintlock over percussion. Once you have run out of caps, or they have corroded, then this gun is of little use. How does this price stack up to a modern .22?

If "Thorts?" is the result of two degrees those degrees can't be worth much!

My IQ result when tested was 135 or 137, can't remember exactly The test was primarily looking for patterns with numbers or shapes, word association and the meaning of selected words. I was told my result was quite good, but I don't consider myself overly intelligent. I consider my strength to be in my ability to make good decisions. It's where much of my success originates.

    And that mam is intelligence!

Your immediate combative stance and ridicule of any male who you disagree with will do you no good!
Feminazism eats one away inside far more than any damage done outside! one would do well to tame those emotions!

So Mr Arkane does have a sense of humour.

I suspect the ying to my 'feminazi' yang is your male chauvinism. Keep that in check and you might do better.

This thread seems more like a "who can piss higher up the wall" contest in some places. Can't wait to witness you guys at a survival meet.
Returning to survival firearms, black powder guns still have the ability to knock over a deer (much more then a rimfire could ever manage) but the reload time makes it less of an effective defence against groups. For that money you could buy a modern rimfire rifle in either bolt action or self loading (.22LR, .22WMR or .177HMR) but the sights and sound mod would be extra. Ammunition is also dirt cheap for them here in the uk.
Maybe adding a .243 to your Christmas list would cover some more bases.

Being female I can't piss very high up a wall, unless I do a handstand and concentrate hard.

I've spent lots of time in the bush, living rough, for up to 6 weeks at a time, armed 24hrs a day, a loaded automatic weapon on my person at all times, where the locals are quite happy to kill you if given half an opportunity, sometimes carrying more than half my bodyweight on my back.

    How about you?

You're in the UK? And you know about survival? Bwahaha.

Here in Aus we live with 7 of the world's 10 most venomous snakes, our beaches are full of man eating sharks and venomous jellyfish, our rivers in the north full of saltwater crocodiles. We share our houses and sheds with deadly spiders. Depending on the season we can die quickly from the heat or the cold if we aren't careful.

What have you got in the UK apart from crazy muslims?

So it really is a pissing contest then, in that case I would say that we have plentiful water supplies, good pasture and no apex predators to compete with and a lot less flies... We do have horses though lol.

The flies really pissed me off last time I was there. As for the rest of your fauna, what animal do you think kills more people in Australia each year... I'll tell you the answer... Horses kill more people in Australia then the rest of your sharks, bugs and crocodiles combined.

    Bloody dangerous things those horses.

Raw statistics are very misleading if they don't take probability into account.

I'll explain the concept in simple terms so that you understand:

If 10 people swim with saltwater crocodiles and all 10 die then you have a 100% probability of death.
If 1000 people ride a horse and 100 die then you have a 10% probability of death.
So in fact swimming with a saltwater crocodile is 10 times more dangerous than riding a horse, despite 10 times more people being killed by horses.

    Understand yet?

If you cant fathom simple risk assessment your chances of survival are slim. Can't wait to meet these amatuer UK preppers at a meet. The british army NCO's I've met weren't much chop.

Of course I understand, what you seem to misunderstand is that I'm unimpressed by the fact that you choose to survive in an environment which is fundamentally hostile. You criticise me for being a survivalist in the UK when it make perfect sense to me to select the environment that is most conducive to survival. I have lived and worked all over the world yet you assume that the UK is the sum total of my experience. I choose to be here because it provides the best, most stable option for long term survival. It's not difficult once you have it in perspective Little Soldier Girl.
Not everything is a competition that you have to win at, I've been there, done that and I'm no longer interested
