If you were going out on a boat, you will want to make sure that you have stocked emergency survival items such as plenty of food and water. Having extra medication on board is always a good idea to. Life rafts, and other things such as life jackets, and boat components should be checked to make sure they are in compliance and in working order.

When you are out on a boat your only communication will be a radio and it sometimes your phone. It is always a good idea to take a backup to a radio with you in order to make contact in case your radio or phone does not work.Always let somebody know where you're going and when you anticipate on being back when you go boating. This way if you do not make it back within a certain amount of time somebody can come looking for you. This could leave you stranded somewhere for a matter of a few hours instead of a few days, weeks, or months.
