I was ordering seeds the other night and the place had paw paw seeds. They were very expensive and seems like they are really hard to grow. Growing up in Missouri, my mom used to pick pawpaw but I don't remember eating them, she said they grew wild back then. They sure look tasty in the pictures of the ripe ones. I will try this when I have more time to deal with them. People were saying that they have to be in the shade for the first couple of years and they were really hard to germinate.

    Good morning Whisper,

Well, there goes the "Poor Man's Banana" ! Like the famous Chinese dish "fried rice", it was originally prepared from leftover rice. Only non-poor people had leftover food.

Things change. The late 19th century signature line of the Ukraine was "the breadbasket of Europe". A few political changes later and the place was identified with starvation.

If I hear anything about Pawpaw development from my Virginia ag contacts, will be posting something here.

    Meanwhile, back to pizza.

    Good evening Whisper and all,

Above is a follow-up article on the Pawpaw comeback.

A company name is mentioned: "Edible Landscaping".

I'm wondering if there's a "Inside the Beltway" variation of the Pawpaw.

Article tells of a presentation about the fruit at Virginia State University this month.

    ...

Did George Washington have a refrigerator ?
