Finally found an article clearly addressing something neglected.

Going around in public with a DIY mask is good. Like Governor Jim Justice of WV says, it's a minofr inconvenience.

What is immediately needed to address - because of neglect - is coronavirus infections via entry into the eyes.

Article mentions aircraft cabins and the different environment they present. The cabin air is filtered at a relatively fast recycle rate with certain type of filter.

Virginia's plans to reopen schools for coming academic year has a 3 ft/1 meter social distancing space. Not an aspect of article but there are other problems with school openings: how do the kids get ready for school, get to the bus stop, all the other stuff ? Mom is still in bed with broken bone and in need of dialysis. Medical clinics were closed except for COVID-19 matters.

My DIY mask incorporates form-fitting goggles taped to cooper laden cloth. A colleague at a store said it looks like a feed bag. LOL.

 

Personally I only use face shield (without any mask). However when I need additional protection such as in the next few hours after I post this, I use face mask that is rated for PM 2.5 from Unicharm (hey something is better than nothing)

Yes, the P series is best for safety re these expendable masks.

To leave the biological arena,...... It is advantageous in public to wear something directly over face - not for real value against microorganisms but to protect against vigilante trouble-makers looking to cause problems. We've got this situation here.

 

This is the case in the area I am living in now. People here were very sick with an unidentifiable illness in September through December or January. Those who were tested for flu came up negative. They all said it was the worst flu they ever had.

Believe above also the Virginia situation.

Virginia did, however, say that the flu shot given starting August/September 2019 did not cover all strains of an identified flu making the rounds.
