I have not used a slingshot for a long time, but I know how to use one & make one in a wilderness situation.

When I was younger I used to love to slingshot hunt. Me and my brother would go the woods behind our house and hunt all day. We stopped doing it a long time ago because we grew out of it but sometimes we still do it.

That is what we call a catapult, not much good without the rubber.
This is what we call a slingshot.

Yes and no. When I was a young person I did the slingshot thing a lot and was pretty good shot. But with an massive arsenal of modern firearms, suppressed arms, airguns, et al., it isn't a high priority. But, whatever works, and having options is a good thing.

Not here. I asked a copper & he said providing I only use it on my own property, he could not see a problem. Just make sure no one saw me using it. Bloody ridiculous!

Hard to figure out Bishop, certainly they are ignorant, but not stupid. Then again smart people can still do stupid things. But we are talking about a whole government, not just one person. I think it must come down to simply not giving a damn. Like the knee jerk reactions to a shooting. They do the first thing that pops into their heads. Our government would like to ban all guns & bows, to do it all in one hit would cause the citizens to jack up, but they do it bit by bit. One type of gun, then another. Restrictions on ammo, pocket knives banned in public places. Banning catapults was easy because so few people use them these days. And so it goes on.

When I was in grade school, slingshot was very popular among the boys. My brothers each have their slingshots that they use to shoot birds. Sometimes one of my brothers would come home with a bird in hand and would ask my mother to cook it for him. The slingshot is sometimes used against the noisy stray cat but not to kill it but just to drive the cat away. But nowadays I don't see boys using slingshot and when I asked my nephews, they don't even know what it is. Oh, oh, when something catastrophic happens and we are left with our devices in the woods, those boys would definitely go hungry.

One near universal body of law in every society seems to be exceedingly stupid weapons laws. Sadly we have plenty of them here too. On a macro level, it appears most of the brainless laws are passed by ignorant people who are working on emotion. Some are passed by outright tyrants too, of course.
