Let me put it this way:

Your average "caveman" had to know how to hunt, make their own clothes, make tools, know their way around the landscape, understand animal migrating patterns, anticipate animal agressive behavior, foraging, was also an athlete (running for long distances), know how to kindling in order to make fire without the help of matches, etc...

Intelligence isn't knowing facts...any idiot can memorize something given enough time. Intelligence is adaptability, analysis, problem solving, and application. Your talent over this could make a huge difference in survival circumstances.

Agreed, but the environment they lived in had a lot to do with the skills they learnt. Today people have to make the effort to get out there & develop those skills. When man was first born, they did not know how to make fire. In time they learnt how to USE fire which was created by lightening strikes. In a shtf situation in this day & age, life will be very hard for anyone who has no experience in the outdoors.

man has become too smart. some have no idea how to live without the gadgets. food comes from a store walk is out of rhe normal run is unlikely. something breaks its replaced the old tossed away its ok to spend 6-7 bucks at starbucks for ?? when coffee for the month can cost under 6 bucks at the store but that takes a little effort so why bother its a shame what has become of man

its not hard to live a more simpler life, its about adapting to the new circumstances, but how many people who depend on technology for their every day existence can do that? not many I fear.

It mostly depends on ones attitude, is one a problem maker or problem solver?

I agree with you. They probably had better skills back then than we do to today because of all the people who are trapped by technology. Not saying technology is bad but people don't go out hunting for their food every day like the cavemen used to!

back then if you didn't hunt you didn't eat, these days all people have to do is walk into a supermarket, someone else has done the difficult part for them.
