    Cheat.

Life isn't fair, so why should be fair.

I've used this Quickfire to light stove and fireplace fires and they worked well. However, I've not used them in outdoor applications where the weather and everything else was against me. Theoretically they have a very long shelf life -- again, I've not tested these under harsh conditions.

I have never used the military trioxane. I'll leave that to others to make comments. I've bought them but never put them to use. so?????

    Somebody please comment on trioxane.

Oft times one gets what one pays for.

    re: Hurricane matches

The following video exhibits the superiority of Zippo hurricane matches vs. brand x.

Me, I buy the UCO Stormproof Matches and they work great. I have kept one plastic carrier (that comes with the matches) in different vehicles for over 5 years and the matches are still 100% functional = the case seal seals well.

When it comes to purchasing survival / life-saving items, don't go cheap. When obtaining my carry permit in another state years back we obviously had to do range time to exhibit our proficiency. Two guys there had off-brand / cheapy handguns. These two weapons self-destructed right then and there. Me, I qualified with a name brand solid steel handgun and had my Browning High Power back in my SUV in case people wanted to compete. They did. Only the range master did better than I. I think I could have beaten him if I'd known the Malaysian ammo I was using that day shot a tad bit high (we were shooting pop-bottle, 20 oz. -- sized targets at 40+ yards; my Browning shoots like a short rifle, i.e. super accurate, scary accurate). Glocks may be super-robust, but I'm obsessive-compulsive to the max, so I want accuracy. Glocks don't have the accuracy potential ... not for me, they don't.

Never gamble. Go with the best.
