Of recent I have ordered two packs of different Hemostats....just in case.

Also, at a consignment store I picked up a pack of surgical tools....though I do not know how to use them. I plan to put them away just incase.....there are hemostats and some other tools there including fine tweezers...I plan to boil them and then put them away in clean cloths...diapers.

Also in my car..I have decided to put in and keep a case of bottled water....covered with a blanket..

Other than the occasional iced tea...I prefer water when doing most of my traveling...and refreshment. For some reason ..I decided it was a good idea to keep bottled water on hand...as well as simple. I occasionally carry a small cooler and can put these bottles on ice..as needed. But the main rationale...was to keep water close in case of needing to bug out in this vehicle.

Have repairs to make on my truck...and will be doing the same there when repairs are complete..a. case of bottled water.

Also have four sets of these Loupes...coming to be put in my various BOBs. Small ...portable and handy,...

Picked up a new rear tine Craftsman gasoline powered garden tiller at Lowes yesterday and it was delivered today.

I will be reading the manual on how to operate it. Also going to research the parts and maintenance manual....and obtain the same. If I keep a piece of equipment it is my way to keep the manuals for them...in particular the exploded parts diagrams..

Have put it in the garage when it was delivered this morning and will be going through it to ready for an operational check later today.

I am always interested in our members taking prepper actions . Truly all above good posts . Are you planning to put that tiller to work this spring or is it for the stash ? --- I too have medical tools in the stash that I don't even know the proper names for . I have a gadget for clamping off blood vessels and a probe for reaching down into wounds and removing objects , needles , thread , glue and a medical staple gun , plus other stuff .

I like tillers with forward tines. I take the tiller and radically nose it down into the dirt to break-up the hard stuff. The soil has to peculate.

Don't like the tines being back near my feet with the rear-tined tillers -- even though my boots old & new are steel-toed.

    nature dosent plough or till.
walking on the soil compacts it.
raised beds and greenhouses/polytunnels make the best uses of land for the ordinary person.

:) Agreed but a tiller/rotavator is pretty useful actually creating a veg patch or breaking up compacted ground. Where they really fall down is they spread pernicious weeds by chopping up the roots and re burying them. You’re in a vicious cycle of needing to rotavate each year just to stay ahead of the weeds that you created the year before.

there was an experiment done many years ago, digging versus no dig, and there was very little difference in the yields, in fact I think no dig did slightly better.
check out Charles Dowding " no dig explained" videos for this method.

It would be distinctly amusing to see someone go no-till in red-clay fields.

Oh, and the farmers in Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Indiana, ... are all brain-damaged. So it goes.

It would be my deepest wish to see the socialist gods in Europe ban digging / tilling. It would be "the best thing for the people", I'm sure.

Oh, I just got in a little compost for my backyard. Here's a photo:

there will be no tilling, no ploughing post SHTF when there is no fuel.
people will have to grow their own food by manual labour.
forget huge plains of wheat and corn, think small areas managed by a small number of people, probably a family unit, different ways of doing things will be needed.
any method of saving time and less back breaking digging will be a bonus.
