Surviving a building collapse

Anyone with stories concerning surviving inside a collapsed building? I have never been in such an odyssey but the survival tactics matter alot since most people live in towns. One of the ways to survive is by going under a stout table and try to optimise the use of whats available in your new abode.

 

I have posted in another thread about the survival of 2 Filipino-Chinese girls when their residential building in Manila collapsed in 1968. They were rescued after so many days under the rubble.

In 1990, there was a strong earthquake that hit Manila up to the northern provinces. But the hardest hit was the resort city of Baguio which lies on top of a mountain range. So many buildings were flattened and countless of casualties. One casualty was the wife of a senator. But one survivor who was found after 3 days under the ruins of the former Pines Hotel said he was lucky to have survived. When the hotel collapsed, he was hiding under the bed that probably gave him a good space between the ground the avalanche of wood and concrete above. After a few minutes of the collapse, he heard cries and wails that added to the discomfort. It was like being in a movie scene where people everywhere are dying except that he cannot the dying people. It was not clear what he did to survive that one thing is notable on the interview that he had faith in God that he would be saved.
