    I have never built one of these before but I plan on to in the near future. These are smokeless fires and are good if you don't want to give yourself away or be covered in smoke from your fire. They were invented by Native Americans who didn't want to give their position away.

    They really are great! It takes more effort to build them but it really does pay off. It uses a lot less wood than a typical camp fire, and burns hotter. So, the energy you use building it pays off with less work gathering wood.
