I have a hunch ... just a guess ... that the "optionally manned aspect" will get some use. LOL

 

Great!! Let it carry everything and then all the enemy has to do is blow up one EXPENSIVE machine and leave 9 men without the things that they may need to survive.

 

Something else that gets EMP-ed.

Uncle was talking about fields of dead bodies, WWII, could have stepped from one body to the next. We forget that in these wars there were also animal carcasses lying ambient temp on the ground. Animals were often used to bring materials forward.

Childhood chum's dad delivered supplies to front lines, WWII. Survives artillery bombardment, still driving down the road, "Man, I thought I was lucky." Somethin in his mirror got his attention. The bed of his 6x6 was on fire. I wonder if these robots will be provided the materials to put out their own fires and repair themselves.

 

Spend the money on better guidance systems for rockets and smart bombs.

What to do with aged-out / worn-out 16" Navy gun barrels? Fit'em w/moveable fins, fill a section of the barrel with mega-high-explosives, weld a nose section onto them, fit'em with Texas Instruments guidance systems, and vwala!, you've got a deep-digging bunker busting bombs ... on the cheap.

And by-God, they work.
