    The snapsack was popular during the 17th & 18th centuries. Also known as a havresack & a sausage bag. sewn closed at one end & secured with a tie at the other end this bag has just one strap. Other options I have seen are open at both ends.

    I use my snapsack for short trips in the forest to carry a little trail food & my water flasks. These snapsacks can be made from cloth or leather, this one of mine is made from linen.
