    Hello fellow preppers.

I've been going around to different prepper forums and shtf forums and one section I've noticed missing from this one is transportation and/or logistics. One thing I think a good prepper should take into consideration is what vehicle they will use for a bug out situation. I also think that there is a large offroad and gearhead audience that would be interested in having discussions here.

Thank you for your time and thank you for prepping!

I find it hard to believe there will be no warnings before the main event what ever it is.
I spend much time keeping track of possible events and once my new engine is in and running I will have a very short notice BOB ready to roll.
I will be where I need to be in very short order and before everyone else!
That's why I am here, there and many other places on the net or not !
    Early warning is a must

some of the early warnings will be so subtle they will be missed by most.

Doesn’t necessarily need to be vehicles for transportation. We use pack horses when hunting long distances into the mountains.

Well, as long as your not in the city, you have a lot less traffic to be dealing with. Also you'll likely be going offroad, not on road. And if it's the emp threat your worried about, some people get stuff from the 70s and 60s or get special material/protection for emps.

So there's opportunity there to use a vehicle during shtf.

I suppose the only real threat that would be difficult for the average prepper to be prepared for is bullet proofing.

I think there are a couple of boards on this forum that are suitable for a transport thread. Survival Gear is one Artorias, perhaps even the Apocalypse board? I suggest if you want to start a transport thread you start it on the Survival Gear board.

Clinging to the hope that someone can step into a motorized vehicle and drive to a more survivable location I can understand because for them to survive that may be their only hope .Would that really work ? I guess that would depend on the specific crises . In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina vehicles were stranded on the road without fuel beginning about 200 miles from costal impact , with more stranded vehicle density increasing as you got to ground zero .

getting out early means it is just a sunday drive!
Yes and that is damned good!
I have over the years had sudden holidays for various reasons, some of them were real bug outs that came to nothing!
Not ashamed to say I jumped the gun for nothing as it turns out, I have learnt from each and done better each time.

The next bug out for me will be my sixth, hope that's a false alarm like the rest:)

One shouldn't be thinking about such unless one must travel to those in their family who will likely need help, yet are unable to provide for such themselves. Some folk will need to be rescued.

One can plan, then the Fates will play hob with one's intentions at the worst of moments.

As a matter of fact, self-assurance draws the ire and provides fuel to the sick sense of humor of the Fates.

I think the mode of transportation will be dictated by the terrain and location you are in when the SHTF. If in a rural location with pack animals, then there is your default transportation. In an urban situation SHTF event from an EMP, then your fall back mode of transportation maybe a bicycle or shanks mare.
