We have discussed before on here about the possible medicine shortage in the future . Now the U.S. Veterans Administration has taken this seriously . They are stockpiling medicines for veterans . They are not putting this in a storage area but are sending out many months of medicine supplies directly to veterans for them to put in their stash . I don't know if this is being done on an individual , regional or national level . When I questioned someone within the V.A. system why they were doing this . The answer was they are preparing for Corona virus to escalate and there to be a medicine shortage .

I think it is a good thing. I just wonder what they think there will be a shortage of, and why?

Maybe the Vets will not be able to get to the clinics? Still good to plan in advance. Age old: Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

One wonders if they are stocking the politically-charged medication, hydroxychloroquine. For some it has been the source of rescue from the scythe of the Grim Reaper. For others, it has proven ineffective. With a certain certainty, I can be said of hydroxychloroquine that its side-effects are petty relative to the worst of covid's killer kindness.

    Good afternoon Morgan,

Some veterans' organizations are authorized to distribute VA pharma to "shut-in" vets.

Disabled American Veterans ("DAV") has authority to do stuff that otherwise is controlled by the privacy acts eg HIPAA. A couple of the other national orgs have similar arrangements.

With the current POTUS, all is OK. The prior POTUS: I still have forms for burial arrangements.

All Vets are shut in Vets currently. No routine medical visits due to COVID-19. I routinely get 90 day supply of all meds except for morphine. There are ways to work the system so you constantly have about a years worth of meds on hand....just in case.

    Dang, that blows wind!

I've got a friend who works for the VA, she is seeing patients, however these are related to disability issues / applications. Certain tests must be run.

It has been stated that NOT seeing "routine" patients may kill more people than the virus. Y'know, not getting ongoing checkups means patients with deteriorating heart conditions are NOT caught in time to medicate the condition to prevent it from getting worse. Same with "routine" visits NOT catching cancers early. Few weeks back, I insisted on having a skin lesion removed (this was not VA related). That puppy turned out to be a very curable skin cancer. "Routine stuff" sometimes turns out to be a life-saver. Panicking over Chinavirus19 is an economy killer and also a non-covid medical killer. Common sense is utterly out the window.

I could go on a total rant.

I usually have an appointment every 2 months. I haven't had a scheduled appointment since last December. The VA canceled my Feb. appointment and then canceled ALL future appointments until further notice. Still get my meds, but have no idea what my AIC is and get zero help with chronic pain from gun shot wounds. No physical therapy for anyone. I'm sick of this COVID bull shit.

I don't know what to say. Calling it all B.S. is rather kind. Seems all reason has been lost. One cannot run a nation based on emotions. I'm so angry about people being angry. I'm paranoid about how many clinically paranoid people are in positions of power. It's like being caught up in some psychotic Fellini film nightmare.

A little clarification - The medicines they want me stockpiled up on are diabetic medicines but am under the impression the V.A. is preparing for ALL medicines to potentially become in short supply . A guess but figure they want the medicines in the hands of VETS so they will not be diverted elsewhere . Also last time the virus got rampaging mail and delivery systems started breaking down . As for as the question why , again a guess but something If I recall correctly was discussed last time we discussed medicine shortages , Nearly all medicines are connected to China . We over the years have let ourselves to be drawn into depending on the cheap slave labor products from China and that includes components and medicine manufacturing in China . Trump like " John Wayne " ain't taking no sh-- from China . China ain't happy .-- China even forking huge sums of money to the Bidens .
