The statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee that once stood in Charlottesville, Virginia, was secretly melted down at a ceremonial event.

After both cultural and legal battles, the statue of Lee that sparked the infamous Charlottesville "Unite the Right" rally was reportedly melted in a secretive ceremony in order to ensure the safety of those involved. The Washington Post reported that the statue met its end "in a 2,250-degree furnace" when it was "secretly melted down" to become a new piece of public art.

The Washington Post reported that "Swords Into Plowshares," a project led by University of Virginia religious studies professor Jalane Schmidt and Charlottesville’s Black history museum executive director Andrea Douglas, "will turn bronze ingots made from molten Lee into a new piece of public artwork to be displayed in Charlottesville. They made arrangements for Lee to be melted down while they started collecting ideas from city residents for that new sculpture."

The Post went on to say that due to "past threats" and "worries about legal action" the project went to great lengths to keep itself secret until now. The article made note that Schmidt, "who directs the Memory Project at U-Va.’s Karsh Institute of Democracy, said she felt like she was preparing for an execution of sorts," and quoted her comparing the destruction of the monument to putting down a rabid dog that has been harming people.

"Still, that dark feeling was better than carting Charlottesville’s ‘White supremacist toxic waste’ away to some other community," the Post wrote.

"It’s a better sculpture right now than it’s ever been," one of the metal-casters said. "We’re taking away what it meant for some people and transforming it."

United Methodist minister Rev. Isaac Collins delivered a sermon at the ceremony of the statue being destroyed and has previously declared that it is a sin to have monuments celebrating figures from the Confederacy.

The Washington Post did not name the owner of the foundry, but suggested, "To him, melting the statue down meant the trauma will be gone when Black people pass squares where Confederate statues once stood."

NPR also covered the event and credited Swords Into Plowshares for its efforts to "create a more inclusive public art installation."

"We want to transform something that has been toxic in the Charlottesville community," Schmidt said. "We want to transform it into a piece of art that the community can be proud of, and gather around and not feel excluded or intimidated."

"The act of myth-making that has occurred around Robert E. Lee, removing his face is emblematic of the kind of removal of that kind of myth," Douglas noted.

The heavily redacted search warrant requests a list of all users who liked or retweeted posts from Trump between October 2020 and January 2021, including “all associated logs and metadata,” which could cover location data. X/Twitter initially delayed complying with the request, per the New York Post, resulting in a $350,000 fine levied against the company.

To a former inmate of a Communist country, watching the American cultural landscape succumb to groupthink ideology brings back old nightmares. Reruns of a ludicrous script: the double-speak and double-think; the sycophancy; ostracizing and demonizing anyone who dares to dissent; preaching love while practicing hate. Only this time, the setting is America—still the land of the free, but here the brave no longer feel quite at home.

It is deeply disturbing to Natan Sharansky, a survivor of unimaginable torture in the Gulag: “I am concerned about the ideological environment in the U.S., a global superpower, a beacon of hope for all humanity,” he writes in a foreword to David L. Bernstein’s new book, Woke Antisemitism: How a Progressive Ideology Harms Jews. Sharansky is alarmed by “the emergence of a dogma—some call it ‘woke’ ideology—not unlike the totalizing ideology I grew up with in the Soviet Union, which has taken the American left by storm and with it many American cultural institutions.”

Antisemitism is but one aspect of this totalizing ideology, the same dangerous narrative that has brought misery to millions. As always, it threatens not only Jews but liberalism itself. “In woke ideology,” Sharansky explains, “if you substitute the word race for class, you will get almost the exact same Marxist-Leninist dogma in which we were indoctrinated in schools that became the basis of the hatred against dissidents and anyone who dared question the party line.” He commends David Bernstein, whose career has been devoted to Jewish activism, for exposing the truth: behind the faux-compassionate clothing obscured by academic jargon lurks the same emperor, no less ruthless for being buck-naked.

In 2016, after becoming President and CEO of the prestigious Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA), Bernstein published an opinion piece warning that intersectionality was a real and present danger to the Jewish community. “If a group sees itself as oppressed,” he wrote, “it will see Israel as part of the dominant power structure doing the oppressing and Palestinians as fellow victims.” Instead of applauding his candor, however, many of his colleagues were worried that his article might compromise the community’s ability to engage the Progressive left and urged him to recant. He would have none of it. The handwriting was on the wall.

Tensions came to a head in 2020, when the JCPA’s Board sought to adopt a policy supporting equity. Bernstein balked: “Ibram X. Kendi defines equity as when all groups are on equal footing in any institution or endeavor.” Anything wrong with that? he was asked. Responding that “the equity concept runs counter to the traditional American equality narrative, and that it would make everyone worse off,” he warned that “it might be weaponized against Jews and Asians, in particular, whose success makes them appear ‘white adjacent.’” Might? Understatement underscored the sarcasm.

But the terminal nail shut his professional coffin when he protested against the attacks on police precincts and the creation of “autonomous zones” in Portland and Seattle: Bernstein was roundly shouted down. Many nodded in disgust at the mere mention of left-wing violence. “They were willing to give barbarity a pass on the extremes of their own political tribe,” he notes with dismay. Within a few months, he was gone. In February of 2021, he announced his departure, tired of cancel culture.

He decided that he could not continue “squirming in doublethink.” He would devote his professional life to helping others like him, disillusioned “doublethinkers,” find the courage of their convictions. Far more people than dared to admit it, he came to realize, were tired of being forced to agree with outright falsehoods and double standards.

Worse still was being cowed into submission by members of a Jewish elite who fawned upon vapid celebrities, mainstream media, and well-heeled nonprofits, seemingly oblivious to their open hostility to Israel and Jews in general, to say nothing of the Big Satan America. Convinced that American Jews and the country itself were at a crossroads, Bernstein founded the Jewish Institute for Liberal Values (JILV), seeking a return to the very essence of both Judaism and the Declaration of Independence.

How did the Jewish community come to vote Democratic almost by default? Why have most Jewish organizations sought to cozy up to Progressives? Whatever the reasons in past decades, Jews are finding themselves increasingly shunned by their traditional allies. Woke ideology “has become so pernicious and so widespread,” observes Bernstein, “that mainstream Jewish leaders have little chance to move the needle on Progressive attitudes on Jews and Israel.” For years, these leaders and their members “had to pay lip service, at least, to woke dogma or, in effect, be cancelled by a philosophy that leads inevitably to more antisemitism and undermines liberal principles.” And to what end? “In the long run,” he concludes, “Jews will be far more damned if they support the dogma.”

That the damnation is self-inflicted makes it particularly egregious. It is one thing to have been oppressed and killed by enemies, quite another to acquiesce to their rationale. Sharansky, a man who barely survived the totalitarian nightmare, reminds us that “the role of the Jew is not to join forces with the ideological fads of the day, but to stand up for independent thought and the liberal principles on which the democracies of the world were founded.” We are endowed by our Creator not only with the right to equal freedom but the duty not to squander it.

"California gun owners have been put at risk by the Attorney General’s office after a new dashboard leaked their personal information.

"The California Department of Justice’s 2022 Firearms Dashboard Portal went live on Monday with publicly-accessible files that include identifying information for those who have concealed carry permits. The leaked information includes the person’s full name, race, home address, date of birth, and date their permit was issued. The data also shows the type of permit issued, indicating if the permit holder is a member of law enforcement or a judge.

"The Reload reviewed a copy of the Los Angeles County database and found 244 judge permits listed in the database. The files included the home addresses, full names, and dates of birth for all of them. The same was true for seven custodial officers, 63 people with a place of employment permit, and 420 reserve officers.

"2,891 people in Los Angeles County with standard licenses also had their information compromised by the leak, though the database appears to include some duplicate entries as well.

"A video reviewed by The Reload shows the databases with detailed information were initially available for download via a button on the website’s mapping feature. They appeared to have been removed from public access by Tuesday afternoon and replaced with spreadsheets without the individualized identifying information.

"The office of Attorney General Rob Bonta (D.) confirmed private information had been exposed and said they are examining the situation.

"The leak comes just over a year after California moved to provide detailed personal information of all gun owners in the state to educational institutions across the country despite objections over concerns about data security and individual privacy. It also comes as a similar policy to California’s restrictive gun carry law was invalidated by the Supreme Court, which will likely result in many more Californians being added to the same database the state just leaked.

"In a press release announcing the leaky dashboard, Bonta said the goal was 'increasing public trust between law enforcement and the communities we serve.' He said the dashboard was about ensuring transparency to 'better understand the role and potential dangers of firearms.'

"Instead, the leaked private information of gun owners is likely to increase the risk criminals will target their homes for burglaries–something the state’s dashboard reports happened 145,377 times in 2020 alone."

Given this connection, it’s no surprise NPE is financially, ideologically, and professionally connected to the nation’s largest teachers unions, which are gigantic, far-left political operations. The Chicago Teachers Union gave NPE and its political action fund, Network for Public Education Action, a series of grants that look like a startup endowment, according to CTU’s own website and its tax forms. From 2014 to 2016, the union’s foundation gave NPE $265,000, according to its tax forms.

CTU is a large affiliate of the massive national American Federation of Teachers union. It is notorious for extremist behavior, including shutting down Chicago schools in 2022 in defiance of elected officials’ decision to restart school post-Covid.

CTU takes in $32 million a year, and the AFT takes in more than $200 million a year, according to their public tax forms. CTU has something like $60 million in assets, and AFT has $140 million. Each has multiple other arms that also rake in millions each, as well as functioning as distributing houses for all the public money they collect.

The NEA, by the way, takes in $600 million a year, and has more than $450 million in assets, according to its tax records. Teachers unions are essentially giant political money laundering operations and among the top donors to the Democrat Party.

Like teachers unions, which strongly support political extremism such as teaching small children about gay sex and hiding kids’ gender struggles from their parents, NPE is an ideologically far-left organization. A conference attendee noted the organization considered canceling or moving its 2016 conference in North Carolina after the state passed a law requiring men to stay out of women’s bathrooms. The report’s retired journalist coauthor is a longtime school choice opponent and teachers union mouthpiece.

Union money goes all across the country to target any education innovations that threaten their control of the system. Classical schools are one of those threats.

Lots of parents aren’t happy with the current results of unions’ giant political influence operations masquerading as public education. Instead of responding to parents’ concerns about the lack of quality in their kids’ schools and the proliferation of extremist politics, the interest groups making billions off public education belittle concerned parents as Nazis. (Obviously, “white Christian nationalism” is to them a synonym for “Nazi,” a deeply offensive slander that is somehow OK for the left to throw at anyone who disagrees with their politics.)

“[T]he classical/right-wing sector is rapidly growing. Forty-seven percent of the schools we identified opened since the inauguration of Donald Trump in 2017,” the report says. It includes zero reflection about how the rise in leftist extremism since Trump’s tenure may have contributed to this rapid exodus of parents from conventional public schools.

I see it's all a problem. The world has totally lost the plot.

I don't have a problem with gay people per se. Most of them are top people. They have to be to be accepted, so they work twice as hard as the average person, because they are trying to get approval and not be outcasts who are ridiculed, bullied and generally treated badly, akin to how most coloured people who are still, sadly, seen as second grade people and treated as such.

However, as usual, everything has swung from one side to the other. I have long suspected since all this gay, transexual crap started coming out in such a major way (i.e. legally, able to get married, etc), that most aren't even gay. There's no way in hell's water that all of a sudden the world has thirty, forty or whatever, times more gays. Already we've seen supposed homosexual men (and teenages, for Chris sake) who have had sex change operations, only to turn around and say, "well actually, that was a mistake. I'm not gay after all). It's all a load of bollocks. Different pronouns, men competing with women in sport because they are now supposed to be women, etc, etc. This is yet another failure by the human race, and it is going to have far reaching implications and consequences for children. More screwed up families to contend with, more anxiety and depression because they've been brought up in unbalanced households, years and years of therapy and antidepressants, the majority of which are paid by the governments to try and "rectify" allowing young people to think they can do whatever the hell they please. If they want to now be a different sex, parents and governments are pandering to this bullshit. I could go on and on and on. But I'll spare you my wrath. It all gets on my goat and makes my blood boil.

I was told by a PHD in Economics...what I came to realize was a very interesting observation and a true one at that.

And that was ....a hundred years or so....ago....educated people had a vocabulary of some 4000 to 4500 words and knew what they meant....

On a televised news outlet yesterday , there was discussion of a Civil War in the United States , after the November scheduled election . This possibility was based on if Trump wins the election , the hate crazed Democrats seeing their communist dream evaporating as Trump dismantles their anti- constitution endeavor , will try to get their political appointed high military personnel to gather the useful idiots under their command and try to take over the White House and place their desired Communist in charge . -- In that case a Civil War could be a possible outcome .

“It is ironic that the Biden administration insists it is ‘the most transparent in history’ when, in reality, it has repeatedly attempted to change immigration laws without congressional authorization and then tried to hide the evidence of its misdeeds from the American public,” IRLI Director of Investigations Matt O’Brien said.
