That may be true, supply lines were the Russians strong point, that was one of the reasons they did not fare very well in Afghanistan (plus the usual low morale issues and the fierceness of the Afghans).

Certainly, if the media reports are accurate, that would appear to be the case.

"Dick Morris: Biden's Coming 'October Surprise' — Count on It!"

    https://www.newsmax.com/morris/midterms-october-surprise-joe-biden/2022/10/05/id/1090626/

"Joe Biden needs an October surprise to survive the coming tsunami Democrats face this November.

"With inflation soaring, the housing and stock markets collapsing, oil prices rising, and a border in crisis underway — he and his advisers know only a 'wag the dog' event can save him."

    -----------------------------------------
"Elite U.S. troops practice for war just miles from Ukraine's border"

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/worl...r-just-miles-from-ukraines-border/ar-AA13ekNP

"Mihail Kogălniceanu, Romania — The U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division has been deployed to Europe for the first time in almost 80 years amid soaring tension between Russia and the American-led NATO military alliance. The light infantry unit, nicknamed the 'Screaming Eagles,' is trained to deploy on any battlefield in the world within hours, ready to fight.

"CBS News joined the division's Deputy Commander, Brigadier General John Lubas, and Colonel Edwin Matthaidess, Commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, on a Black Hawk helicopter for the hour-long ride to the very edge of NATO territory — only around three miles from Romania's border with Ukraine.

"'We're ready to defend every inch of NATO soil,' Lubas told CBS News. 'We bring a unique capability, from our air assault capability… We're a light infantry force, but again, we bring that mobility with us, for our aircraft and air assaults.'

"The 'Screaming Eagles' commanders told CBS News repeatedly that they are always ready to fight tonight,' and while they're there to defend NATO territory, if the fighting escalates or there's any attack on NATO, they're fully prepared to cross the border into Ukraine."

"U.S. Deploys 101st Airborne Division to Europe as Russia Warns Ukraine Preparing False Flag Dirty Bomb Attack"

    https://vaccineimpact.com/2022/u-s-...raine-preparing-false-flag-dirty-bomb-attack/

"With up to 40% of the Ukraine power grid now down and millions of people without electricity as winter sets in, tens of thousands of Ukrainians are trying to flee the country, as the United States appears to be getting ready to take America to war and start engaging Russian forces.

"Could this be the 'October surprise' the Biden Administration has been planning in an effort to affect upcoming elections in November?

"CBS News reported Friday that the elite 'Screaming Eagles,' a light infantry unit from the 101st Airborne’s home base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, have been deployed to Romania, just a few miles from the Ukraine border.

"It is reportedly the first time in almost 80 years that the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division has been deployed to Europe, which brings the number of U.S. troops now in Europe up to around 100,000.

"There are also reports that China intelligence is picking up similar signals, as they recently ordered the evacuation of all Chinese citizens still in Ukraine. (Source.)

"Further evidence that the U.S. is planning to get involved and directly confront Russian forces comes from reports that retired U.S. Army General David Petraeus has been talking to NATO countries to warn that 'the United States may lead a multinational coalition against Russia in Ukraine regardless of NATO involvement.'"

"US to send hi-tech nuclear weapons to Nato bases amid rising tensions with Russia "

    https://12ft.io/proxy?q=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2022/10/27/us-send-nuclear-weapons-nato-bases-amid-rising-tensions-russia/

"Deployment of B61-12 tactical bombs to Europe comes after Moscow held military exercises showcasing its own ballistic capabilities

"America is to bring forward the delivery of dozens of highly accurate guided tactical nuclear weapons to Europe amid escalating tensions with Moscow.

"The new B61-12 thermonuclear bombs are "dial-a-yield" devices, meaning their payload can be changed. They are expected to be sent to Nato bases within weeks.

"B61-12s have four yields that can be selected - 0.3, 1.5, 10 or 50 kilotons. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 had a yield of about 15 kilotons.

"The 12ft-long weapons feature new tailkits that allow them to be dropped from planes as a "dumb" gravity bomb, or in "guided drop" mode, with an accuracy of within 30 metres.

"The move is part of a decade-long $10 billion upgrade programme for several variants of B61-class unguided nuclear bombs, which first became part of the US arsenal in 1968.

"Currently, the US has 100 older B61s stored at bases in European countries including Germany and Italy.

"In what was seen as a move to reassure Nato allies amid Russian nuclear-sabre-rattling, the replacement process will begin in December, having previously been expected next spring.

"Allies were told about the move last month, Politico reported.

"The new weapons have had 'all of the bomb’s nuclear and non-nuclear components' replaced or refurbished, according to the US energy department.

"In addition to making them more accurate, the modifications have reduced the yield from the bombs they are replacing.

"The US bombs being delivered to Europe can be dropped by a variety of aircraft including B-2 stealth bombers, and smaller warplanes like the F-15, F-35 and Tornado."

Those that may have taken the ostrich ploy and stuck their heads in the sand over the potential Nuclear World War 3 will not like the above two posts . The 101st airborne was one of 3 airborne outfits that I have worn their patch . To position the 101st troops for the conflict was a good choice made by the commanders .

The Russian troops are still using WW2 era tactics and a lot of the tanks and equipment seem to be from that era and its letting them down big time, of course the conscripts dont want to be there either, and the Army is using stuff like rape as a weapon which they also did to German women in WW2, they will have to pay for this in due course in war crime trials.
Ukranian forces have killed 13,000 Russian soldiers in the last month alone.

"Based in Belarus, the missile's 1,200-mile range 'gives Russia little added advantage in terms of striking additional targets within Ukraine,' the MOD said. It added that its deployment was probably a 'message to the West and to portray Belarus as increasingly complicit in the war.'"

"Much Of Ukrainian Capital Without Power & Water After New Russian Airstrikes"

    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopoliti...hout-power-water-after-new-russian-airstrikes

"Much of the Ukrainian capital of Kiev is without electricity or water, after the latest round of major Russian airstrikes on Monday. The Russian military announced 'successful' strikes on multiple of the country's vital infrastructure facilities.

"'Missiles and drones hit 10 regions, where 18 sites were damaged, most of them energy-related,' Shmyhal [Ukrainian Prime Minister] stated on Telegram. 'Hundreds of settlements in seven regions of Ukraine were cut off.' Facilities in Cherkasy and Kirovohrad also came under attack. Ukraine's military said it intercepted projectiles over the Lviv region, which spared this western part of the country from damage.

"Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba condemned the attacks as more war crimes: 'Another batch of Russian missiles hits Ukraine's critical infrastructure. Instead of fighting on the battlefield, Russia fights civilians,' he tweeted.

"Additionally Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Telegram that these fresh strikes left 80% of residents in the capital without water and some 350,000 homes with no electricity.

"'Just in case, we ask you to stock up on water from the nearest pumps and points of sale,' he advised. The mayor's office vowed that water supply to the effected parts of the city would be restored in three to four hours, with emergency utility crews working urgently on it.

"Rescue teams in the capital are reportedly searching for possible casualties under the rubble of buildings destroyed or damaged from the new salvo of Russian strikes; however, at this point casualty numbers are unclear.

"Already before Monday's attacks, Ukrainian officials estimated that 40% of the nation's electrical power systems had been severely damaged, and urged households to limit their usage, especially with non-essential large appliances. Ukrainians are further being warned to prepare for long-term power outages as a frigid winter is just around the corner."

The Russian military is in disarray, they lost 300 Marines in 4 days, there are road side graveyards of 1500 more Russian troops and conscripts are saying they are cannon fodder and are refusing to fight, the Russians are retreating in the face of Ukranian advances, sure they are bombing civilians and civilian infrastructure like power plants but even the artillery is said to be running out of ammunition, many of the troops are badly equipped and badly fed. time is running short for the Russian leadership and Putin is in bad health.

Russia I recently read was storing a bunch of their war dead in another country. Belarus, I think. "Out of sight, out of mind," strategy? Oops, too many widows and too many grieving parents.

Using conventional weapons sure is NOT working for Vlad. Russia will have to go high tech. Currently, they are gutting the infrastructure of Ukraine.

Three million people might have to be evacuated out of Kyiv, this due to the increasing non-availability of electrical feed.

I personally believe the stories about Vlad being sick -- there is more than enough photographic evidence.

We will see what manner of devil(s) take his place.

A Russian felon once told my eldest son that, "There are only two types of Russian people, sheep and wolves."

Russians have a lot of both Viking and Mongol blood lines in them ... a whole lot. Guess which blood lines best climb the ladder of Russian military command. Vlad Putin climbed up the ladder of the KGB very rapidly. It shows.

    We are facing reality.

We do not need bad intel, however. We also do not need panic-bias. If something is real, then we need multiple sources -- as does the NSA or any-dang-body else.

Bad intel makes this site look bad. This is not a screamer's site. This is serious.

Is the world sitrep inevitably going to go DEFCON 2? That may just very well happen; however, we are not there yet.

Should preppers have bunkers for a full-throw SHTF scenario? If one lives in Arkansas or Missouri, one should. That's where the fallout falls should our silos and Air Force bases get hit. If I lived in certain states, I would get out of there right about now. That is real prepping.

One should not go irrational to justify their preparations.

So only nice everything is going to be lovely outcomes is reality . All the scary stuff is bad information . That is not my thinking process as a prepper . It is a fortunate thing for our members that we have a member that knows where any radioactive cloud will settle back down to earth at . This is ridiculous . Hiding from something bad is what I consider the ostrich plan of sticking their heads in the sand . As a prepper an individual will never advance in the realm of prepping if they deny the bad scenarios . Yes I purposely look for the most hideous outcomes so I can prepare for them , I am not afraid to confront them .

Russia just tested its so called "Doomsday" nuclear powered torpedo and it didnt work!! back to the drawing board Vlad!!
the reality is probably a lot of their other weapons dont work either.
Ukrainian troops have now entered the city centre of Kherson after the Russian troops retreated leaving many of their injured soldiers behind.
Putin's crazy war gamble hasnt paid off and its collapsing all around him, his time in history is coming to an end, its a choice of whether he will be assasinated or his health will kill him first.

it is being said that "the West has offered Putin surrender terms" that is Putin's surrender, the war would cease and Crimea would become a demilitarised zone. Kremlin insiders are said to be for it because it absolves them from recriminations and they can stay in power.
somehow I cant see Putin accepting this deal, or Valensky come to that.

A deal to end the fighting in Ukraine would be a good result. Interestingly I have an ex-military friend who is something of an expert on strategy. He hass predicted all through the conflict that it would end up with a demilitarised zone (in his words "something akin to North & South Korea) as he deems an outright military victory to be unachievable for the Russians, but that they would not back down due to their ideology.

    Bad sources = bad intel

Lord knows that most people consider me Mr. Gloom and Doom. But then, when I say something that I myself believe, I've found multiple sources ... multiple valid sources that I can confirm when testing their report. Many loony-tune sites give quotes that are totally out of context. If a site has Sasquatch and space-alien invasion stories, then I pay no attention to them.

Looks like we could get a nuclear throw of some sort. Most likely it will be regional. Could we go DEFCON 3 or below, sure we could.

Preppers prep. Preppers should not panic. There are plenty of ongoing and coming horrors. However, preppers who need to be perpetually in their own DEFCON 1 world, help not themselves nor their comrades. When the mainstream media wishes to ridicule preppers, they always go to the folk who are stuck in DEFCON 1 mode.

I prep (running out of space for supplies), however I go on with life. The wifer and I do fun stuff. I talk with my grandson. To have to resort to invalid sources to justify one's paranoia bespeaks poor mental hygiene. Anxiety causes the body to perpetually inject cortisol into the body from the adrenals.

I prep as a part of everyday life, nothing paranoid about it just an ongoing everyday activity, anyone who thinks preppers are all doom and gloom and paranoid know nothing about prepping and never will.
all these people that say their mental health was affected because we had a 3 month lockdown, a "lockdown" where we were allowed to go out for an hour a day to exercise or walk the dog or go to the local shops, well that just makes me laugh out loud, when the big collapse comes these people will just fall apart. they are the paranoid ones not preppers.

Lonewolf.....they cannot stand criticism here as we become the same pattern in "Fallen" leadership and sell the very souls of the American People to the international deep state.

The Ukraine is an international deep state operation ....and has little to do with America....Amerika yes....America no.

We are protecting someone else's investment again....and with our monies and soon enough with our blood...

I have no confidence in what is going to happen in the Ukraine...no matter who or what wins....I know the American people will pay dearly for what happens....

At one time I was in the Army National Guard in a 155mm artillery unit, and I understand something about Battery fire and also counterbattery fire....and have a good idea about what changed in the Ukraine war and how much money as well as technology it took to get to where the Ukraine is today in this war.

The Russians cannot move rapidly ...sufficient to get away from our intelligence gathering methods in directing battery and counter battery fire...and thus have had to retreat..

The ability to target and re target...and on the fly/move ..has change significantly since I was in Artillery.

I would also say that with drones and GPS/satellite targeting ....armor can much more easily be targeted than in the olde days when I was in Artillery.

It looks like the Russians are now having to strike from much further away than was done by Armor...and their artillery.

This is an Ishmaelite war....not an American War...

    Ishmaelite = Amerikan...not American.

--- What we have here is a failure to understand a hard core prepper . Actually I water down or omit things on a lot of my posts so as to not overly frighten the soft core preppers . I would suggest if someone can not handle serious prepper issues then put the scary person on that disappearing option on this forum .

One needn't go looking for problems to justify prepping. There is no shortage of things going wrong.

If a "news" site has a bunch of "kidnapped by aliens" stories, or Sasquatch sightings, then I do not use that site.

    Prepping is rational. Paranoia isn't.

It is irrational to believe that during a nuclear war Missouri and Arkansas will be safe from high levels of fallout. Maps provided by civil defense and military sources show these states catching very high levels of fallout.

"KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s electricity grid chief warned of hours-long power outages Friday as Russia zeroed in on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with heavy artillery and missile attacks that have interrupted supplies to as much as 40% of the country’s people at the onset of winter.

"Freezing temperatures are putting additional pressure on energy networks, grid operator Ukrenergo said.

"The capital of Kyiv is already facing a 'huge deficit in electricity,' Mayor Vitali Klitschko told The Associated Press. Some 1.5 million to 2 million people — about half of the city’s population — are periodically plunged into darkness as authorities switch electricity from one district to another.

"Moscow’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy and power facilities have fueled fears of what the dead of winter will bring. Ukraine’s energy infrastructure had again been targeted Thursday, two days after Russia unleashed a nationwide barrage of more than 100 missiles and drones that knocked out power to 10 million people.

"Reports of torture and other atrocities committed by Russian troops have also emerged from the southern Kherson region, where Ukrainian officials said they have opened more than 430 war crimes cases and are investigating four alleged torture sites.

"Hungry and cold, Kherson residents lined up Friday for food from a charity, with many saying they had nothing to eat and had no heat or electricity. Residents were further shaken after a missile struck the fourth floor of an apartment building, reminding them that the Russian occupation may be over but not the danger from Russian missiles."

Ukranian troops could be in Crimea by the end of the year, and the Russians could be pushed back over the border by Spring. already talk of Putin being removed at some point due to his handling of the war, everything he has done during this war has been a disaster from a military point of view.

"US Aid to Ukraine Puts Pressure on Pentagon's Arms Stockpile"

    https://www.military.com/daily-news...e-puts-pressure-pentagons-arms-stockpile.html

"WASHINGTON (AP) — The intense firefight over Ukraine has the Pentagon rethinking its weapons stockpiles. If another major war broke out today, would the United States have enough ammunition to fight?

"It’s a question confronting Pentagon planners, not only as they aim to supply Ukraine for a war with Russia that could stretch years longer, but also as they look ahead to a potential conflict with China.

"Russia is firing as many as 20,000 rounds a day, ranging from bullets for automatic rifles to truck-sized cruise missiles. Ukraine is answering with as many as 7,000 rounds a day, firing 155 mm howitzer rounds, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and now NASAMS air defense munitions, and thousands of rounds of small arms fire."

I am of the opinion that Putin should be removed. His aggressive policy is not compatible with 21st century politics. One of the concerns is the continued talk of war crimes - whilst Putin himself cannot be personally responsible for the "boots on the ground" his actions have led to that situation and he should be treated as a war criminal.

the leader is always ultimately responsible for the actions of his troops, the buck stops with him, look at what happened in the Balkans and their leader was jailed for war crimes.

I see your point, however, it seems fairly clear that the way the war has developed was not likely to have been part of Putin's plan and, sadly, soldiers will ofter under duress/combat conditions act in a manner that would not be their normal behaviour (for example allegations have been made against British troops of shish actions only recently) is the man at the top really responsible for people ignoring their training and ethical/moral codes (if there are any)?
