When it comes to needing a permanent shelter to survive there are a few basic things to take into consideration before building one. First one is that must make sure that they have basic shelter in place to keep dry from inclement weather until a more permanent shelter can be implemented. Next, is to make sure you have what you need to stay alive, pressing items like food, water, and wood for fire so that you can cook and keep warm since you will not have your conventional heating system anymore. Once you have these items the next questions to ask yourself is, how long will I be here, is this area a noticeable area, or is it a bit hidden off the beaten path. These are important factors to figure out when deciding if you are going to make a permanent structure as it will take a lot of time and energy to do so.When building your permanent shelter you want to make sure that it is not in a noticeable area, that you are somewhat hidden as this will ensure a more secure location to setup home base at. Next is to consider the supplies around, access to bringing supplies in and if bringing those supplies in will draw attention. Once you know what is available to you, then it’s time to start building. If you are lucky enough, you may find an abandoned house that you secure as home but if that is not the case then here are your options. You can build a thatched hut, a mud hut or even an unground bunker style dwelling. Whatever it is you decide to build will depend on the situation in which you are faced with. If you are not able to return to your old life due to an attack or disaster or maybe there was an invasion of some sort. Maybe you are homeless and need to stay out of site. Whatever the reason it is will be what aids you in your decisions for survival, safety, and location in your new permanent shelter.
