True. Almost all of our pharmacopoeia at D & D Farm is symptomatic; you take it and feel better, but the etiology treatments (except for broad-spectrum antibiotics and selected vaccines) isn't available -- at least here. This is one reason why Dawn is learning as much as possible to ways in helping the body help itself.

    Good morning Duncan,

    Here, too, no availability.

    That's my weak link.

I think that the issue with people that are raised and lived their entire lives in an urbane setting when it comes to adjusting to rural life is mostly just attitude differences. When you are raised and live surrounded by people in mass you build certain barriers that allow you to be comfortable with all those people constantly intruding into your space.

What this does is allow you to almost not see all these people that surround you constantly. Most people that are more rurally raised don't have the same filters and do things like wave at their neighbors when they see them out and about and will stop and say howdy if they are out on the road getting their mail when you drive by.

This sort of thing is ignored by most urban people new to rural living or they find it annoying as hell. I have actually heard them griping about people waving to them when they are out in their yards. This sort of thing from a rural view makes them look rude, and not someone that is going to be worth much. Then when they do try to associate with the rural people their tight walls and smaller personal space will lead to them getting too close to people and making them feel uncomfortable.

Some people adapt quickly and are soon seen as a part of the community but others seem to be unable to change and so are seem as perpetual outsiders and not looked at in a favorable way. This doesn't really matter to them much in normal times but if things turn ugly it may be a serious and possibly life-threatening problem.

Definitely somewhere in the Mountains, Hopefully with a Water source nearby. You'll be far enough away from Society but not too far just in case you need to run into town for something.
