When you're in a survival situation whatever the reason and need to make a shelter in the woods there are many different ways you can go about doing this. Something you would want to try to decide is whether your shelter is going to be a permanent, semi-permanent, or temporary one. This will let you know how much needs to go into the construction of your of your shelter.

If you are making a temporary shelter, then you can build a wooden place easily with some basic sticks. Find two branches that are y shaped and about 4 to 5 foot long at least. Spike these into the ground and use rocks to support them. Next, find a stick to go across between the two y sections. Then find sticks to lay at an angled side by side to make a slanted roof top. You can add leaves and extra foliage, and this will give you a basic Dugout shelter. For building a more permanent shelter just take your time and make sure to build it right the first time so that you don't have to go back and waste precious resources doing it again.
