Who's Failure Is This Student?

So this college aged student doesn't seem to understand that she can not just take someone's property simply because she doesn't agree with what the person is saying. Who's failure is this? Teachers from grade schoo0l up? Parents? Lots of college aged American students today think like this. The don't seem too understand the law or know the difference in right or wrong and obviously don't understand what anyone's right s are in America.

 

Parents. It's against regulations for teachers to teach morality (in WV anyway) in the classroom. Then some college professors throw gas on the fire by preaching socialist dogma as facts.

Lot of the kids never taught morals. Sad.

The wife retired from teaching 4th grade this years mostly because of the BS and crap they want taught in the schools now. Like teaching sex education in kindergarten. To include LGBT views.

My answer to the question: the national electorate.

The schools have been "taken over" by politicos. Whether in college or high school, the classes and environment are different than they used to be.

Without discussing or making judgment, if in the 1950s some kid refused to participate in the pledge to the flag, there would be repercussions and et cetra.

The parents can't help much as individuals because they've been marginalized.

 

I blame the parents. How basic is " Thou shalt not steal ". It doesn't matter what it is, or what you think of it, it is not yours. You don't take it, especially taking it from someone else's hands. Schools have some culpability. They do not teach or reinforce common values.

Finally. Someone who had a consequence to their bad actions.

 

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you. The fault is hers and hers alone. She refuses to understand.

 

Personally I oppose the pledge of allegiance. The master should not pledge allegiance to the servant.

That video in the OP is a monument to the strange sense of entitlement that is so often seen these days. Sadly, it is endemic in her generation and the generation before that.

Parents AND schools are responsible for this.

The "participation trophy" reward system in schools and at home contributed to a whole lot of dysfunction and an unrealistic view of how the real world works. No one is entitled to a damned thing.

A major reason I mentioned that the national electorate is involved is because the "school" has become a "family" / a "parent".

Breakfast is served at some urban schools. Lunch is historically common, at least post WWII. There are even meal programs during the summer when school is not in session.

Some "educational" assignments are not known about by the parents.

In some places the PTA - Parent Teacher Association - has changed to the Parent, Teacher, Student Association.

 

I have in-laws who are now retiring out of the education system. They were teachers, then administration. My wife and I over the decades have visited large urban areas of America to visit her relatives.

PTA meetings; basically it's the white parents, both mother and father who attend; East Indian and Asian parents also attend; black families are rare and it is the mother who shows-up. Approaching 80% of black kids have no father at home.

Basically, the school systems are being called upon to parent African-American kids, 50% of whom have little home life that provides any real nurturing.

The social welfare system has provided an excuse to black men to abandon their families. The results have been an ongoing nauseating catastrophe.

Due to the number of Hispanics entering America, gang membership has been increasing mightily (witness MS-13, Avenue, ...). Hispanic gangs are driving blacks out of neighborhoods that were historically occupied by black families. Compton used to be 95% black; that number is down to only 30%. Hispanics have replaced them. The mainstream media assiduously does NOT cover such realities.

It's not just urban schools and it's been going for a long time now. Wife is now retired from teaching. Teaching 30 years ago is nothing similar to todays teaching environment. My wife taught in one of the most conservative , rural areas left in the lower 48 states. The older teachers won't teach much of what is being shoved at them (sex education K and up), LGBT incorporating curriculum, Islam, etc. but the younger teachers grew up with it and most will teach it.

My wife's classes had over 50% of the kids from single parent homes or being raised by the grandparents and parents that were completely stoned coming to school to pick up there kids was common.

At the junior high and high school levels it gets worse. Teachers were actually reprimanded for disciplining kids found having sex in the hall ways and were told they couldn't contact the parents about it. So much for morality.

Not all behavior, opinions or ideas deserve to be respected or allowed. Liberals seem to have no borders on what they will accept with one exception. They can't tolerate or allow anyone to disagree with them. To them, that is about the only real sin.

This is just as problematic as the liberals with no restrictions other than disagreeing with them. Viscerally, I wish no economic collapse. This would harm my family, after all. Yet, I do know that the only way to kill the cancer of communism is to allow the dollar to become nothingness, thus denying the communists the funds to pay its goons to do evil. It's somewhat different here - based only on my experiences and views.

In the corridor from metro-Washington, D.C. (I'm excluding Baltimore) to Hampton Roads, the charts show 80%+ unwed black mothers and ~ 50% white unwed mothers. We also have the identifiable component of Islam both immigrant and descendant of immigrant and Islamic converts.

The welfare state has over 50% of our local public schools' payrolls NON-educators. Many community-outreach positions are here. So, too, the extra-curricular program "instructors".

Here, the Southern Poverty Law Center ... they have an affiliate in Richmond, Virginia ... is viewed as just another political NGO. A few years ago, SPLC targeted the Family Research Council. There were complaints and SPLC backed off. Now, they do produce some good work products. They prepared a report with gang tattoo symbols that they distributed to law enforcement agencies, but still, it's a politically-oriented group with a specific focus.

My view of America's public schools is thet they're just part of the cartel system of labor that's publicly funded. I've hired foreign labor overseas and can say, the American ed system is lacking.

 

During TEOTWAKI, you might not have the food to spare. You also may not want a stranger scoping out your land/home/preps.

 

And even with many needed skills - roof repair, periodonics, dentistry, water devining with that special stick, ...

The person just might be a petri dish of contagious germs.

 

That is actually in our plan. After the SHTF is over, life has to be more than surviving so we plan on having a securable bunkhouse that new people can be secured in while they work of the days until they are vetted.
Agriculture needs workers if you don't have machines.

Here where I'm from (USA, West Virginia) people are still used to hard work, at least the ones that would survive. A lot would depend on the TEOTWAWKI event and if there are enough people that some can find us.
