I don't know if you guys have it on your E mail but I do . Televisions according to the article have cameras and microphones in them so they can watch you and anyone else in front of the screen even with it turned off . Microphones also so they can listen to what you think about that a-- hole politician and any threats you might make . The feds can tap into your home to monitor you . That perverted fed. can watch you or your daughter or your spouce walking around nacked . Check your e mail for this article , as I think it came through this forum . What are your thoughts on this ?

This makes me think of something that the guy that had himself casterated and changed his name to Chelsey said . When he was working as a fed , his fellow workers would tap in and watch nacked women for entertainment . I don't think he was in to nacked women .

Ah, the advantage of antenna's. No cable, satellites, just plain one way reception. Plus, anybody watching me walk around "nacked" will be filing for PTSD benefits.

There are so many things in most people's homes and lives that can be tapped into these days. Televisions are just another one. Then there are things like Alexa. And smart homes. Connected cars.

There was a bit of a scandal in Canada early last year because people put security cameras inside their homes which they control through the internet via their smart phones. Well some website on the other side of the world was allowing anyone and everyone to just watch what was happening inside all these private homes.

Well said perverted feds will have to struggle to watch me a little more. Don't own a television. Or Alexa, or connected car, or smart home, or inside cameras. Don't even leave the laptop out or connected.

I think you shouldn't believe things you read in random E-mails from sources you don't know. I don't even open them. It's too easy to get a virus.

The IoT, AI and "smart" stuff is going to be an ever increasing appearance as we move forward into this the 21st century I'm afraid. It's really going to depend on the consumer and their attitude (for lack of the right word now) on it all. It started with the "smart" phone which in fact created the human drone and it's moving into your house.

Now the thing with "smart" TVs is that it's the dumb consumer that actually established the WiFi connection with their router/modem in the TV in the first place that will give the TV Internet access. Now who's dumb? If I want to stream anything my Blu-ray player has all the Apps plus some to do all that without a stupid smart TV. Plus, I have a Roku that has even more crap in that thing.

If you have no choice in getting a smart TV since one day I'm sure all TVs whether LED or holographic (yes, that's coming) will have a connection to the Internet, just don't allow it. You have to be smarter than the smart stuff, and 'it's a brave new world out there. At least it better be.'

I just have to put here that people praised Edward Snowdon and hate the NSA for stupid reasons beyond stupid reasons. Yet the consumer has no idea, not one little iota of an idea at how intrusive companies and marketing are. Companies do use psychology. How do you think those commercials stick in your little noggin? Companies employ marketing companies for R&D big time and by in large all that wonderful telemetry from your smartphone or computer is used to create a picture of YOU and your personal consuming portfolio so they can sell more and more crap for you. But the NSA? They just don't have an analyst sitting there at their desk listening to your phone conversation about how your 80 year old mother fell in the nursing home and broke her hip. They don't do that. They have WAAAAY too much data to waste their time on such garbage. They're more concerned about shit head in Iran or Venezuela talking about God only knows what through terrestrial or Sat communications. Did you know that a major portion of Info. for the President's daily intelligence briefings come from the NSA? Not the CIA, not the DIA, the NSA. I've been reading a book called the Secret Sentry that talks about the NSA from World War II forward and its setbacks and I can't even imagine the massive setback the agency suffered as a result of traitor Snowden telling everything under the sun to Russia and in turn the Chinese, the Pakistanis, etc. He sold you and I out and as a consequence our adversaries can take preventive measures so we aren't a step ahead anymore.

Anyways, companies know more about you via "smart" devices then a damn government agency, believe me. Many of you may know this already if you're not as computer savvy as I am and are inundated with targeted Ads. "Oh, you bought this product, well here's a product you may be interested in." Creepy, isn't?

BTW, it's not just a company or what ever that can see you through a smart TV. They can easily be hacked and Shodan knows all.... Look up shodan.

Yes it's very creepy. And it goes beyond just targeting you. They go for the people in close proximity to you. For example if I look up a product..like a new chainsaw or something..suddenly my husband is getting adverts for new chainsaws when he hasn't been looking at all.

It's like carrying your stalker around in your pocket. And because we don't have almost any other devices everything goes through our smartphones.. which won't even let me look up a weather forecast if I don't let it know my exact location.

Smartphones are a marketer's wet dream come true and they are very hard to control. With my computer's I have a very tight ship. With a phone I just limit what Apps I install (only Apps I need), use an App that tells me what other Apps can do wit h the camera, GPS, Mic, etc and use the DuckDuckGo browser. It's by no means perfect, but better than nothing.

In your case, you might want to try the DuckDuckGo browser for Internet browsing and set its options to dump data on browser exit. Which is another thing. I think a lot of people don't close their Apps. They just minimize them. You want to fully close the App and this will help save on battery power. If you use Facebook, that App right there is a major battery drain.

Many people use the DuckDuckGo search engine in lieu of Google. But on my computers I mostly use Swisscows.

    Good morning F22,

Is it possible / probable that those Silicone companies are GSE's - Government - Sponsored Enterprises ?

    Having mentioned E. Snowden; ...

No one enters HK without the HK Government knowing about it. Scheduled airline service is easy to monitor. If he was transferred at sea to a fishing boat and landing at Aberdeen, HK, a high school police cadet would monitor the event. A 20 year old police officer would. HK knows.

More to all this then renting a flop house hotel room (makes D.C. hotels appear modest priced by Tom Bodett) in HK and then enroute to Moscow.

    Good afternoon Last Outlaw,

    LOL !

I grew up in the 1950s with the McCarthy era worries and the 1960s with a commie hiding under the bed worries.

Not sure. I've read that Microsoft was in bed with the NSA and Bitlocker does have a backdoor. It's why I use a third-party encryption solution for all my computers.

Now China has been known to GSE their chips and the NSA among other companies had servers with those Chinese made chips.

    Article appertaining:

"The Police Are Requesting Data from People’s Smart Speakers at an Alarming Rate"

    https://www.theorganicprepper.com/police-smart-speaker-data/

Something else to consider doing: Turn the volume all the way down to zero on your computers' microphones. I cover the camera len's on my computers.

When attending online meetings (using ZOOM or whichever), re-enable your microphones and expose the computer's vid. eye. I put a physical postie note on the outside of a computer with its mic. volume turned to zero. Before an online work meeting, I re-enable the mic.s using the control panel access.

Hackers of any ilk can embed listening s/w bugs onto your computers. I don't want them listening to me cursing at my computer, passing gas, or talking to my family.

Big Brother hates people who prep. Big gov. wants people to be dependent so that they may be owned. "Whoever protects you, owns you." People who are independent are a threat. Sacred Liberty is a threat to the elitist controllers -- they loathe Liberty, even the concept of freedom. The people must possess the power to physically shut down the government, else their votes mean nothing. High powered rifles with FMJ ammo = electric transformer killers. Civil war guerrilla fighters take out electric substations -- bullets and bulldozers (jump before your bulldozer goes through the fence, ha-ha-ha!). Be as independent as you can be.

I just don't care. As you can tell I'm not at all shy about expressing myself. I know as a fact that I have been looked at more than once. Hell if I worked for the government I would have given me more than just a look. I have been an outspoken member of a militia when I was younger and stupid. I was raised in a place that was drug-infested and most of the people that I grew up with spent a lot of time in jail. I have been known to associate with some pretty nefarious people and had friends that were connected on a national level to organized crime.

All that I admit but I also was on the board of directors of my church, was a youth counselor and despite everything, I have spent only one partial night in jail for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. No shame I still smoke a joint every once in a while. It always pissed me off that they liked to treat me like some sort of hardened criminal whether I was hanging with old friends of was with a youth group from the church. I wasn't stupid. I did lots of stupid things but was smart and never got caught except for that one time and that wasn't my fault.

IF I was going to do anything now I would not even talk around someone with a cell phone or in the room with a computer. I watched too many of my old friends go to jail because one of their "friends" got caught and ended up setting up a bunch of their "Friends" for things that they had been caught doing. Most of the people that I dealt with in the Militia were a different level of a person. You only crossed them ONE TIME. We didn't normally break any laws and were not a pack of thugs. We were just determined about preparing for what at that point in time looked like a possible civil war and race war.

as far as I am concerned in the here and now I'm not breaking any laws I am merely expressing an opinion, I prepare for a time when there will be no rule of law and any government will be no larger than a city council and confined to a small area of land , and anything outside of that is "bandit country".

Have an olde flip phone ....no land line...no camera in my flip phone..
My flip phone.... I remove the battery when I decide and carry spare batteries with me.

Like many here the cameras on my lap tops are taped over. When I am not on this laptop the cable connection and power line are disconnected. The battery has been removed from this laptop since I got it.

I got rid of my cable Television and land line....

Agree with lonewolf...the television programming is horrible....and I finally got rid of it.

In the future, if not already, this monitoring equipment will be built into your refrigerators....stoves...washing machines et al....as well as your automobiles.

I have olde vehicles and try to keep them going. No hurry to come up to date in a new vehicle. Do not want a vehicle with GPS Built into it...or built in cell ph0ne.
I hate car payments...hell...I hate to have payments at all.

If I have to get a newer car with GPS in it..I will learn how to disconnect it.
There are people out here who know how this is done..and will teach you ....even underground books published on it.

Years ago..I used to have an underground collection of a publication called "Secret CB" and these publications told you how to modify your CB radios to go where they were designed not to go...more than 40 channels.
Today My rigs are far beyond that..but in those days it was interesting the information you could get in certain circles.

This kind of thing is to what Texdanm and Olde Geezer are describing ...people who operate independently of the crowds...

This is not encouraged by government/governments more interested in 'herding" people.

I am also aware that some of this will be built into the newer generation of ham radios...particularly walkie talkies..

I keep telling some of you about "Herding." Well there you have it.

The stores often ask me if I want to use their store card for discounts...and I often tell them no..not interested...I pay cash. If I want that information out there I will write a check.

Or they insert the store card for that cash register....or someone lets me use their card....

I do not want my cash purchases tied to my name and address if I pay cash. It is no ones business..but mine.

This is the intended purpose of these store cards like at Sam's or BJ's ..to tie your purchase into an address and a name...even if you pay cash..no privacy.

    Grocery store cards as well....

Mayhap now you understand why the rush to go cashless..to tie everything into a name and address...for "Herding" purposes.

It is no one's business what or how much you buy....as long as you pay for it.
