An amateur radio operator from British Columbia, Canada located a long lost satellite.

Article tells of him building the needed antenna ...

The COVID-19 lockdown gave him time to set up his rig and look for the Zombie satellite.

 

I can just envision some hack Hollywood movie producer reading this story and thinking, “Hmmmmm.....zombies from outer space!”

 

The waterfall image you see there is from a SDR (Software Defined Radio) could be an Airspy and the software is more than likely SDR# (SDRSharp).

It's not hard to locate and monitor satellites. And you can get Wefax from the NOAA Sats.

The DoD operates some communications Sats and people in Brazil I think it was were tapping into them for communications withen the jungle. I believe it was mostly their truckers. The DoD can locate you and the authorities have arrested people doing this.

Consider contacting your local area's Emergency Management Department and ask if there's any opportunities to volunteer for working in their drone rescue program. Several phone calls / emails later, you could get into something to serve as a foundation block for no-cost courses and other stuff. Build up your resume and you'll get many opportunities for no-cost education - plus the route to payroll positions.

You've got the skills but need to get them "credentialed".

There are enough people in these programs than when the national house arrests / quarantines end, you'll get rides to the EOC and meetings.

I learned in junior high school: "You make your own opportunities".
