I'm not posting this article for its theme. MSF.com is not a citizen corps type of site.

I am posting it for 2 reasons:

    1. This exercise alerts you to what is realistic to expect; will your roads be open to travel on ?

    2. It's quality journalism as "they" define it regarding Hurricane Michel and Bay County, Florida last year. Why does the national public have any responsibility, less existential matters, for $661 million in damage ? They can repair their own boats. The insurance proceeds will amply cover the costs - presuming the risks were properly identified and managed [Just joking...I know they love de facto subsidies from Middle America.]

I just bought ~ $100 in batteries - but my cost much less than retail. Join or organize a serious, professional-level prep club. Economies of scale kick in. Otherwise, help out the Bay County , Florida yacht club. They've got some more rough weather pending and the restaurant trade is starting to increase prices.
