To minimize stress and problems with blood chemistry, don't always read the scary, pandemic news.

Above is a light-reading article about a prominent personality who knows of a way to eliminate sin.

If the Brits copy programs in use by the Continent's advanced level societies, like France, the era of Queen Victoria will return soonest.

I am now in the mood for breakfast at Repulse Bay Hotel, Hong Kong, BCC.

Not sure what's "light reading" in the above article Pragmatist! And no idea where sin comes into it!

I for one, don't find anything light hearted regarding tax, hahahaha!

It's light reading because nothing in article needs contemplation / reflection.

Banning tax haven firms also bans the few jobs they create. Some places love and welcome those fleeing taxes. Some of these places are of British roots - some in the Caribbean - although North Atlantic Bermuda specializes in secret aircraft registrations and the documents are far from being "free".

All this stuff's funny to me.

I'm neutral on taxes. The tax problems here are "only" the results of the poor quality political leadership and their dumbed-down society.

An illustration of my tax view: At least once a year, I am solicited by our county's volunteer fire and rescue squad squad for $$$. When it's an in-person solicitation, I tell the solicitor I do not support the vol fire/rescue squad(s). I continue. ...

I believe in and support a paid fire and rescue service from the appropriated required county real estate tax increase.

There is a cost to safety and civilization and I accept I have an ideal setup living here in a rural county and it's not too expensive. It is near zero compared to north and south of me.


it's only a poor quality expression when I say "I am anti-tax". It is a euphemism for me instead of saying I am anti trash for politicians and anti trash for a body politic who converted to socialism.

Before you ask, I cannot run for political office because I am on record recommending to disestablish the Virginia Ports Authority.

As an aside, some years ago our state veterans home for the destitute had an expansion and my vet organization was invited to the celebration and tour of the facility in Roanoke, Virginia - Shenandoah Valley area. The place was nice and the staff, both medic and admin were well compensated. The tour was interesting. They showed us the large multi-shelf cart they wheeled around to each room for distributing the RX pharma for the veteran patients. They asked if there were any questions.

I asked if the RX pharma was purchased on the US/Federal Dept of Vet Affairs reduced-cost price schedule. The answer was "No" and the rest of the tour had me as recipient of hate stares and dagger eyes.

The US nation is now more socialist than A Brit like John Maynard Keynes ever had a conflict with in his nation.
