Not the opium but the derivatives of it can be found in advanced-level Prepper med kits.

This stuff is RX. Recommend have copy of doc's prescription with the product.

Art mentions the Brits drinking Laudarem. Some of my medic books list "Tincture of Laudarem" (Tincture = alcohol base for preparation, then ingredient, in this case, the opium) and obvious used as a medical product.

I've had older Chinese associates tell me that many Chinese used opium to kill the pangs of hunger.

We're currently in a disease era yet only a few generations ago, especially in China, the big killer was also starvation.
