    Article per....

This survey is typical of Middle America.

It indirectly affects prepper preparations and actual use of the prep. Two cadavers in a stalled car on your GOOD evac route translates to disease. Less the chilly times, the mosquitoes will be the vectors.

A weather radio is far from being essential...need not even be mentioned by the public sector authorities. A small AM radio can provide all the weather info a private citizen needs. Plus, the radio superb for cabin fever treatment.

Lack of ......shelters ? This is nation-wide. Shelters cost $$$ and need a skilled staff. Both are lacking.

Stillwater is a relatively safe and healthy area......relative to the nation's big cities.

Again; The prepper must know and accept that "Middle America" will be seeking eg water. Your Bobcat ATV w/ trailer loaded with water - inter alia - amongst other things - need not be unhitched. They'll seek to take the entire thing - along with the water.

The governments idea of being prepared is sorely lacking IMO. Notice the complete lack of recommendations for weapons among other deficiencies. The fact that many Americans lack even the suggested minimums is very scary, but will help with the die off of the sheople WTSHTF

The government idea of preparing is based on you sitting and waiting for THEM to come and take over your care. Basically, in three days they will show up, give away food water and ice and all will be well. They don't like the idea of people getting too independent and prefer that most people can be more easily controlled and herded. If after three days the situation isn't fixed they won't have as much problem moving people out. If you have no food and no water you won't have any choice about going where they tell you or at least leaving that area.

To a bureaucrat, people are just numbers and ideas and not considered as "people" in their plans. Also, they are unable to imagine anything interfering with the ability of the government to take action. Their plans, and as far as they are concerned, their responsibility to people, ENDS with the government. If the government goes down, to them, the world HAS ended and there is nothing left to save.

in the UK if TEOTWAWKI or the apocalypse happens, the British government will just go into underground bunkers below Westminster and sod the population.

Back in the hills of central America " OZARKS " the government as a whole is not well looked upon . Their in the same pot as REVENUERS . This area is indeed like steping back in time . We still have moonshine being brewed . The point being in a disaster most folks are prepared for at least a month to be self sufficient and don't expect the government to come to the hills , and really don't want them here .

I am pretty certain the British government has no interest in the south west of England, we are too far from Westminster to bother with, every time the voters ask for something to be done it either gets ignored or winds up in red tape.
and I think its very similar for the north of England.
after the political antics of the last 3 years I don't think I give a damn about them either.

IMHO we have a very similar situation here ergo the term "Fly Over Nation". Politicians and Senior Media people are only concerned about the East Coast corridor from Boston down to Washington D.C. and California, and even that could be limited to San Francisco and Los Angeles. The rest of the country be damned. There is a staggering number of media, I believe it is something in the 80+% range that reside in those areas. They are completely out of touch with main stream America. The reporting is so biased it can't even be called reporting anymore.

we have over here what is referred to as "the Westminster bubble" if something isn't about London and the Home counties-commuter distance to London-then its of very little interest to the politicians.
unless its a voting year then you cant move for MP's and prospective MP's!!

If you live in a fly-over state, especially if it's a rural state in the West away from cities, you might as well be in another country, which, now that I think of it, is a good thing. I'm 560 miles away from a city with over a half-million people; the next city that size is 650 miles the other way.

After reading posts on this thread and thinking about it for a while , there seems to be a pattern . The only ones depending on the government to save them in a disaster is city folks . We saw this after Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy in particular but when you really think about it ", it almost invariably happens" when a storm hits a high populated area in any location . We often read on here where someone takes offense at there being a difference between city dwellers and rural dwellers and the survivability capability of each . I think there is a vast difference .
