I consider this a "heavy" article; first time I read of a Governor mentioning "martial law".

The lead picture's caption: "National Guard ...... "

Note the quote "But Newsom ... ability to do martial law ..."

Article mentions California seeks ~ 900 ... for hospital patients and homeless".

I'm glad to hear the White Hou ....... er .... Sacramento .. arranged the $$$ to get California ready.

Finally, the California homeless will get some place to stay.

 

What are your opinion on that development in California?

Martial law may well happen. It is already happening silently, but surely in some places, beginning with rural areas that aren't getting much press.

As to martial law, there is a precursor already happening in NC. The Sheriff of Dare County, NC has shut down the roads into the county. No one goes in. And if you go out, you stay out. It's happening.

Per request;

The California development is a somewhat routine aspect as a requirement for receiving the big Federal $$$ for additional hospital space/facilities and getting the homeless into safe social-distance type of shelters.

The National Guard is partly Fed-funded and the California LEOs are mostly state-funded. The common-denominator is to have grocery store shopping occur in a safe environment. Same for buying gasoline.

In practical terms, a martial law environment is so similar to eg an emergency management environment (Think of the oil embargoes response) and the Justice Department environment working a national terrorism event. To the private citizen, the distinctions are merely technical.

 

This is a typical last-minute socialist operating style. The Peoples Republic of California is once again gearing up to ask the rest of us to bail them out. If they didn't take in every lowlife that managed to sneak across their border and try to treat them like the long lost child they wouldn't be in this shape.
