Above article tells of Canada's outdoor safety program.

Article has a link to "Adventure Smart".

Well worth surfing through it. It's basic info but journey's start with the first step.

The link's "Tip of the Week" ...... Don't know about "fun" experienced with land navigation using a topo map but safety: yes. The topo map gives the topo and human made features. It does not tell of a huge tree across the creeks needing crossing.

All this is based on thinking. Master thinking and the maps and mag compass are just routine things to learn about and practice.
