There's a thread on Woke, however I feel as though California needs its own category describing these days leading up to that state's destruction. It's kind'a fascinating in the realm of world pathologies. Thousands of books and articles have been written about the fall of ancient Rome -- why not California.

And too, I do have my prejudices. Here is one of my rather dark ones. I am delighted that California has decided to commit suicide. Maybe some people with common sense will move out of there. I hope the perpetually-adolescent "adults" will stay for the earthquakes, fires, floods, criminal chaos, and all of the other fun and exciting apocalyptic events that are heading towards California.

"California Advances Bill To Help Shoplifters Steal"

    https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/california-advances-bill-help-shoplifters-steal

"Shoplifting in California may get a lot easier, after the state Senate passed a controversial bill on May 31 that would make it illegal for store employees to confront thieves.

"SB 553, authored by Democrat Senator David Cortese (San Jose), requires employers to maintain violent incident logs, provide active shooter and shoplifter training, and to discard policies requiring workers to confront suspected active shoplifters, the Epoch Times reports.

"According to Cortese, the bill is intended to 'help employers keep employees safe at work.'

"According to the California Realtors Association (CRA), the bill will apply to all industries - not just retail, if passed. CRA president and CEO Rachel Michelin told Fox2/KTVU that the bill 'goes way too far.'

" 'I think it will open the doors even wider for people to come in and steal from our stores,' she said.

"In recent years, shoplifting has become a serious problem, with retailers such as Target anticipating a $1.3 billion hit due to 'theft and organized crime.'

"In Downtown San Francisco, Target employees told the San Francisco Standard that they're experiencing at least 10 thefts a day.

"Meanwhile, in 2014 California voters passed Prop 47, which downgraded certain thefts and drug offenses from felonies to misdemeanors. Its most well-known statute raised the minimum amount of stolen goods from $400 to $950 for a theft case to be classified as a felony, which critics consider to be the main cause of a rise in petty theft across the state.

"As the Times notes, weeks before the fatal Walgreens shooting, a 26-year-old Home Depot employee, Blake Mohs, was shot and killed attempting to stop an active robbery at a store in Pleasanton when he grabbed a DeWalt box out of the hands of the suspected shooter, Benicia Knapps. Knapps reportedly grabbed the box again after shooting Mohs, and got into a car driven by her boyfriend, David Guillory. She was later apprehended by Alameda Country Sheriff's Deputies following a pursuit.

"Apparently the answer to incidents such as the above is to allow shoplifters to simply walk out without confrontation."

A bumper sticker that I can agree with

    DON'T LET THEM CALIFORICATE TEXAS!!!

Liberals from California fled there and have come here. THEN they want and try to replicate the problems that they fled there to get away from here.

Literally, decades ago, billboards in Oregon said something to the effect of "Welcome Californian tourists ... just don't stay here". Something like that (?).

Come SHTF scenarios, true American states will have to invite outsiders to leave. Or else.

I keep car license plates from my home state plus documents that establish my birth in that state and history therein. Then too, there is my Appalachian accent. Post SHTF, outsiders will in no way be welcome. Due to career obligations, I had to move to other states. I have proof. Thankfully, those states were also Heartland states. Praise God, I've never been without those who also believed in the U.S. Constitution.

In Texas, do drive out the outsiders. They are interlopers. They can only do harm.

Many years ago when the auto industry crashed Texas was freaking INVADED by yanks that came here to work in a booming oil industry. MAN there was a SERIOUS adjustment period. The yanks had a hard time understanding that if you get in our face screaming at us you will find your self on the ground with a busted up face. Evidently they think that it is normal to do that and are shocked when we respond VIOLENTLY. They also seemed to not understand that if you poke me in the chest a couple of times with your finger that I'm liable to poke them in the FACE with my fist. We just don't stand and scream at each other. You don't get in my face and yell at me unless you want to fight and I'm not at ALL shy about throwing the first and second and third... punch.

My Dad taught me that fighting was stupid because it infers that you are going to let the other guy hit you back. He said that fighting is for kids. If someone just insists on it I just stomp their ass. No fight, it is just and ass kicking. I'm now for sure way to old for a fight.

Other than the bathroom there is nowhere in my house that I am not near to a gun. (I need to get a stainless gun fr the bathroom.) If you invade my house you will DIE. Among other reasons that means that when the cops show up there will only be ONE story told to them. The other reason is that I live out in the country outside a tiny town with no cops. I'm in the middle of 5 acres with the two acre around my house fenced so the dogs can run without getting out on the road. This is a place a place with very few people. There is NO reason for anyone to be on my property much less in my house.

It's a shame states can't require visas from those coming to Texas to work. People could get a green card while employed. People with green cards would not be allowed to vote in Texas. They could get an absentee ballot from their home socialist state for that.

JESUS, back in the 70s though the early 80s when the oil industry was booming the American auto industry went to crap. We were INVADED by thousands of out of work Yanks. Some adjusted and it worked out for them but others stepped into hell. Evidently they scream and cuss each-other without it escalating. They tried it here and got STOMPED.

Texans are generally old time southern polite. That seemed to sort of infuriate a lot of the yanks and they found out the hard way WHY we are polite. I'm on the wrong side of 70 now but if you get in my face I'm going to beat your ass. That is not an offer to fight. I'm either going to kick your nuts up into your throat or splatter your nose all across your face. THAT s how I tell you that we are going to fight. Honestly we have very few fights in Texas because when it gets to that point someone is probably gong to the hospital...maybe in an ambulance and everyone is likely to go to jail.

Women may stand and scream at each other but I had never seen men do that until the yanks came down. I knew a couple that had to load up and go home because their big mouth kept getting their asses kicked! If you get in my face screaming at me I will either break your face or kick your balls over a football goalpost. No warning, it will just happen. To me and most Texans that is you just BEGGING me to kick your ass!

We really don't fight all that much if you stay out of the bars. A lot of the bars are little more than a fighting place that will sell you a beer or even give you one if you will take it outside. I've seen two guys have a knock down drag out fight and then stop and go back in an have a couple of beers together. Not all fights have much anger in them. Some are more like a dog fight and done just to settle who is the top dog.

I too live in the country outside a small town with no cops, but I do not need to shoot anyone as this is a low crime area, probably the safest area in the safest county in the entire UK.

I've never had a problem with anyone here. This is not an area where problem people are going to do very well. THE primary business here are 7 BIG prisons. People that work in prisons are not shrinking violets. My wife retired after 25 years in the system and my Daughter has nearly 12 years in now and plans to go for retirement, retire then go back and double dip. That is fairly common among those that start early. You work and then put your retirement checks into investments.

I did think of being a Prison Officer at one time but glad I didnt, even prisons in Britain have become very violent places, that wasnt the case years ago when I nearly applied.
2 prisons in my county but both are low category training prisons before they go out on parole, and 1 is due to close soon.

" ... WHY we are polite."

    Thanx for bringing this up.

Medieval codes of conduct kept people from perpetually fighting. This, even at the supper table. Rules have reason. Rules keep us from going savage. Being a Southerner, these rules were burned into me. As a kid you WILL say "yes ma'am" or "yes sir" to your elders. It is a whipping otherwise. I was whipped for not following the rules. All Southerners who have moved out of the South into other cultures and those whose business duties involve travel, have stories to tell. I personally have been stared at -- example opening doors for women and older people. I have been asked to talk o_O. They wanted to hear my Appalachian accent. Apparently the South is a planet somewhere between Earth and Mars.

People routinely curse each other up North. They make rude gestures and some will even try to get in front of you in line. You cannot do those things in areas of the South where traditions are followed. You will at least be snubbed. You might get a broken nose. Here, rules are rules. You'd better be right with God if you get overly friendly with another man's wife.

    https://www.southernliving.com/culture/every-day-etiquette

    ---
In the South, being rude can easily start a fight:

"It’s a matter of honor: Why Southerners are more polite"

    https://bigthink.com/the-present/southern-more-polite/

"Psychologists Dov Cohen and Richard Nisbett believe they have an answer: 'We think the best single explanation has to do with the South being home to a version of the culture of honor.' In essence, a place can be said to have a culture of honor if one’s reputation is highly valued. If somebody insults you and you fail to respond to the slight, you might start to look like the kind of person who can be taken advantage of. Conversely, if somebody were to insult you and you socked them in the jaw, you would have successfully defended your honor, and people might think twice before behaving poorly around you. The same applies to protecting one’s personal property or defending a significant other against unwanted attention.

"As a consequence, good manners are a must. If you live in a culture of honor, a certain amount of respect is expected even from strangers. The alternative is that you risk offending somebody, and if they care about their reputation, they might react violently.

"In what has been called the 'asshole experiment,' the researchers recruited a sample of Southerners and Northerners for an experiment advertised as one studying the “limited response time conditions on certain facets of human judgement.” In the test, the participants were given a phony explanation of the experiment, asked to fill out a survey, and then asked to walk down a narrow hallway to another room, where they were told the rest of the experiment would take place.

"But as they walked down the hallway, another individual walking the opposite direction would bump into the subject with their shoulder and call the subject an “asshole.” At the other end of the hallway, researchers evaluated the reactions of the subjects. Overall, Northerners tended to seem more amused by the encounter, while Southerners tended to become angrier.

"This is clearly a subjective evaluation, so the researchers also measured the participants’ cortisol levels — it’s a hormone associated with stress — and testosterone levels before and after the altercation. Southerners’ cortisol and testosterone levels rose 79 percent and 12 percent respectively after the bump compared to Northerners’ 33 percent and 6 percent respectively.

"The researchers surmised that this physiological and behavioral difference was attributable to the fact that Southerners grew up in a culture of honor. Without a sense of how valuable a reputation can be, Northerners tend to shrug off insults — and it’s likely they’re ruder to each other, too. But in a place where honor and reputation are highly valuable to an individual, people treat each other with more respect, but also with more violence."

My wife worked for 25 years in Texas prisons including a stretch working death-row. In those 25 years she had exactly ZERO bad or dangerous encounters. Unlike in the "free-world" there ARE serious repercussions for bad behavior or even rude behavior. All that you are guaranteed to have is a place to be and sleep that won't allow you to freeze to death, meals, and clothing that is made for inmates by inmates. Everything else is a privilege that can be taken away. The food is grown by the prisoners and the clothes are made by them too. You don't HAVE to work but it is that or sit in a cage 23 hours a day and eat whatever they offer you. Nearly all of them work. Only death row doesn't work. They used to but when some escaped they stopped allowing that.

MOST of the people in prison are there because they have drug habits that won't allow them to function in a regular job. They have several problems. First you can't hold a job and stay stoned out of your gourd all the time. Unless you have a LOT of education or mad skills most regular jobs don't provide enough money to support their habit. Being a junkie is expensive. Once you are hooked the dealer is going to squeeze you for ALL you are worth.

We need to treat addiction as a sickness and addictive drug dealing as attempted murder or even murder if someone ODs. Once someone becomes an addict they are no longer doing the drugs for the pleasure of getting high. They are doing it to avoid feeling like death is a better choice. Withdrawal is WORSE than just dying a simple death!!!

Almost all of addicts have clinical depression. They are not just sad, they have brain chemistry issues. Approx 14% of Americans have addiction issues, drugs and/ or alcohol (their medical records contain the chemical formula "ETOH", ethanol, all over the many pages). Among people in stressor jobs, one can almost double the #14 -- i.e. over 20% with addiction issues. Cops are the first group that jumps to mind. Often, nurses split their patients' psychoactive med.s with their own selves. Stress screws-up brain transmitter chemistry. Humans self-medicate ... they just do. Were I the dictator of America, I would allow anti-depressants to be available in Pez-dispenser form. SSRI meds are another matter. If a patient goes off of these, the patient can go violent, many have.

This topic spans Woke and California. Could have put this in Woke. Aerospace military industry is THE money-pump for California, but the film industry is also a BIG player. In 2020, the film industry made over 200 billion dollars -- that's not chicken-feed.

Me, I'm glad that the film industry is taking it in the teeth. That decadent immoral swamp is contaminating all of the US and nations abroad.

"They Went Woke: Oscars Facing Liquidity Crisis, Launch $500 Million Fundraising Drive As Viewers Flee"

    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/oscars-are-so-bad-theyve-launched-500-million-fundraising-drive

    Begin quote

...the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has launched a $500 million fundraising initiative in an effort to offset the Oscars dramatic drop in viewership - which went from nearly 44 million in 2014, to just 19.5 million in the latest ceremony, according to Statista.

Bill Kramer, the Academy’s Chief Executive, revealed in an interview with the Financial Times that the organization has already raised about $100 million, with contributions from high-profile donors like billionaire Leonard Blavatnik. The campaign is further bolstered by sponsorship agreements with renowned luxury brands, including the Dorchester Collection.

The timing of this fundraising drive is crucial as the Academy’s current broadcasting agreement with ABC, a Walt Disney-owned network, is set to expire in 2028, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Oscars. Negotiations for renewal are expected to commence shortly, with Kramer describing the existing deal as “very healthy” and lauding the partnership with Disney as “amazing.” However, the shift towards streaming and the upheavals in the television and film industry have prompted the Academy to pursue what Kramer calls a “revenue diversification campaign.”

"No healthy company or organization should rely on one source of support to a degree that could cause concern if that support decreases," he told the outlet.

The move comes amid broader financial struggles within the non-profit arts sector. Notable institutions like the Metropolitan Opera in New York have had to draw emergency funds from endowments due to cash shortfalls, and the Sundance Film Festival has faced significant challenges recovering post-Covid-19 disruptions.

As the Academy seeks to broaden its appeal and financial stability, the success of this global fundraising campaign could be pivotal. With the film industry and its audiences undergoing radical transformations, these efforts might not only reshape the Academy’s financial landscape but also its cultural footprint on a global scale - with the campaign set to be launched in Rome on Friday.

Twenty-four year old male having sex with a 15 yr old boy or girl? Not a problem in California.

"CA Democrats Author Bill to Protect Sex Offenders Who Lure Minor"

    https://californiaglobe.com/fr/ca-democrats-author-bill-to-protect-sex-offenders-who-lure-minors/

    Begin quote

State Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblywoman Susan Eggman (D-Stockton) introduced recent legislation “to end blatant discrimination against LGBT young people regarding California’s sex offender registry.”

However, under their bill, SB 145, the offenders would not have to automatically register as sex offenders if the offenders are within 10 years of age of the minor.

Wiener claims the current law “disproportionately targets LGBT young people for mandatory sex offender registration, since LGBT people usually cannot engage in vaginal intercourse.”

Existing law, the Sex Offender Registration Act, amended by Proposition 35 by voters in 2012 (Ban on Human Trafficking and Sex Slavery), requires a person convicted of a certain sex crime to register with law enforcement as a sex offender while residing in California or while attending school or working in California.

“This bill would authorize a person convicted of certain offenses involving minors to seek discretionary relief from the duty to register if the person is not more than 10 years older than the minor,” SB 145 states.

Legislators Wiener and Eggman say they are trying to shield LGBT young people from having to automatically register as sex offenders for specified sex crimes. But their bill does much more.

SB 145 would allow a sex offender who lures a minor with the intent to commit a felony (i.e. a sex act) the ability to escape registering as a sex offender as long as the offender is within 10 years of age of the minor. No specification is made as to whether the sexual offender is straight or LGBT.

SB 145 would add a section to the state’s penal code (Section 290.55) stipulating that as long as the offender is “not more than 10 years older than the minor,” they are not automatically mandated to register as a sex offender. There is no age limit or range specified, except for existing law which already excludes lewd acts with children under 14.

"Death threats and pedophilia accusations. How child trafficking took over California’s Capitol"

    https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article277330403.html

"California Democrats spent the final few days before summer recess in an unusual spot: embroiled in a legislative fight with Republicans, who typically operate in the shadow of the state’s blue supermajority.

"The cause? A bill to strengthen penalties for child sex traffickers that lawmakers killed ahead of a looming legislative deadline.

"By the time they left Sacramento last week, Democrats had doubled back and advanced Senate Bill 14 in an emergency hearing of the Assembly Public Safety committee, likely at the behest of both Gov. Gavin Newsom and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, D-Hollister.

"And Republicans were celebrating a 'win for law and order in California' with bill author Sen. Shannon Grove, R-Bakersfield."

"The Right Stuff: Our children are not for sale"

    https://www.dailyrepublic.com/opini...cle_17349966-0979-11ef-8d6d-b73410d329df.html

"When it comes to laws dealing with adults having sex with children, one would think there would be no ambiguity regarding the severity of the crime and the punishment, but that is clearly not the case in California. And it’s definitely not the position of several Democrats on the Senate Public Safety Committee.

"Currently, under California law, if an adult has sex with a minor, it is statutory rape, a felony. It is also a felony for an adult to contact a minor to even try to have sex with a minor. These felons are placed on the sex offender list. The law protects minors, children under the age of eighteen, and the punishment is severe enough to serve as a deterrent. It seems straightforward.

"But here’s where current California law fails. If that same adult pays for sex with a minor or agrees to pay with anything of value for sex with a minor, it is no longer considered statutory rape. It is considered solicitation for prostitution, and that person is only charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for a mandatory minimum of two days, not to exceed one year, and or by a fine not to exceed $10,000. (Pen. Code, § 647).

"How is it possible that an adult having sex with a minor in one case is statutory rape, a felony, but if money is exchanged, it is only a misdemeanor? What kind of message does that send? There is a huge inconsistency there. It seems the buyers of sex with minors receive preferential treatment under current laws."

Old Gzr: Having once worked in the realm of industrial automation control, let me tell you that in future, fast-food chains' outlets WILL be automated for the purpose of massively lowering the number of their human employees.

Already, we see "self-checkout aisles". In future, unskilled labor WILL be totally replaced by automation. The current socialist labor laws will necessitate this shift.

God-government regulations = the laying-off of human employees. This is one of those 100% realities.
