it's really hard to starve an ol' hillbilly.
( I was born in Michigan but claim hillbilly status.)
    Parents from the hills don'cha'know.
Dad was from a family of 15 kids.
I have 64 first cousins on dad's side alone.
    That's an army.
My first cousin married my first cousin.
    Are they still cousins?
The first cousin that is a female first sex partner was her brother.
    Really it's true.
    Weird ain't it?
I have a sister and that kind of thing never occurred to me.
    That's just taboo.

Quite a few of the plants that are nowdays considered to be weeds have been known as edible plants, and even ones with medicinal qualities, for hundreds of years.
Dandelions, as an example, have more vitamins and minerals than most of the greens that we buy at the store and eat. Victoria Boutenko mentions several plants that are more nourishing than conventional greens like lettuce and spinach. Lambsquarters and purslane are just two of the ones she talks about and recommends.
For anyone who is interested in foraging wild plants, I think that one valuable resource is Green Dean's website and youtube page, called "Eat the Weeds". He not only explains which so-called weeds are edible; he also shows you how to prepare and eat them.
Of course, in a heavy survival situation, a person would either be boiling them or having to eat them raw most likely.
