    I believe emergencies can occur prior to 2 months of having an emergency kit stocked and ready.

    Fire Chief Sloan entry makes the article worth reading. He talks of fire extinguishers with a matter frequently neglected: "and have a clear path behind you to escape".

    Remember, an emergency kit is both a clearly defined container of some sort with supplies/stuff. It is also a concept. Frequently, the water containers are not appropriate to actually place in a bag. Ditto the fire extinguisher when evacuating. Just think this out well prior to the harbor waters evaporating from global warming or human caused contamination.
