Many people mock the idea that you can learn anything from fiction movies, but I think there is a lot to be learnt. How many of you watch a movie & say "why didn't they do this or that"? You can learn or reinforce your knowledge just as much by people's mistakes as you can from what they do right.
In The Last Train the first part is sci-fi, they use sci-fi to put a particular group of people in this survival situation. But the scenario of the comet hitting the earth could be a reality & I personally am finding this series very interesting & entertaining to watch. If you do watch this, let me know your thoughts.

    I agree 100%.
Imagination. Where would we be without the imagination of inventors.
Where would we be without yesterday's science fiction that are today's
    common items.
If anyone recalls the original Star Trek remember the "communicator" .
The little flip device Kirk spoke into? "Beam me up Scotty."
We know it today as a cell phone.
Dr. Goddard pioneered liquid fueled rockets in the 1930s.
He has been called the man who ushered in the Space Age.

Lasers are common to many today and it has yet to reach potential.
I would have little television where I live without satellites orbiting
    the earth.
Communications world wide depend upon satellites.
Where would we be without the computer?
N.A.S.A. actually studied the bridge layout of the Next Generation
    Enterprise.
Humans are the only critters known with an imagination.
I asked my pup if she had an imagination and she just sat there then peed
    on the floor.

i'm not sure we can learn anything from fiction movies, the plots are so far fetched that its just the fantasy of some Hollywood directors fevered brain cells!:p
The "Rambo" movies have a lot to answer for!
now some of the reality shows, like "naked and alone" or whatever its called-haven't watched it myself, or in the UK Bear Grylls "Island" and shows of that ilk-at least we can see what their doing wrong.
i am a fan of shows like "Mountain Men" & "Building Alaska".

Actually Rambo not that bad and what I learned from the movie
    1. Don't judge someone because of what they look like
    2. One man in his element can do a lot with a little
    3. A guerilla fighter can slow a large unit down

We will be watching some more of THE LAST TRAIN tonight. Things I have picked up so far; inability to accept reality even though it stares them in the face; not thinking about the ever present dangers & not arming themselves as soon as possible; assuming that someone will & should help them; disorganized, there seems to be little discussion about what needs to be done, what the priorities are; no questions asked about who has what skills; No foraging, no checking out houses & vehicles. No syphoning of fuel tanks; no foraging in shops such as army surplus, sports shops, gun shops. They still have no group protection against feral dogs & some of them have been attacked & killed already.

Here in the U.S. Liberals (Demotards) are sheeple.
People that act like sheep being led to slaughter and clueless.
U.S. Liberals are rabid anti-gun people and back all restrictive anti gun
    legislation.
    Dems tend to ignore facts.
Like the fact that drug cartels can bring TONS of illegal cocaine and heroin
into the U.S. and Canada without getting caught.
It would be so easy to smuggle illegal firearms into the U.S. the same way.
    Fact is they DO!
U.S. Liberals want the U.S. to be as defenseless as the citizens in Britain.
Britain and most all of Europe.
People forget, or just plain don't know history.
When herr Hitler took power one of his first acts was to force gun registration
    then confiscation.
In 1933, the ultimate extremist group, led by Adolf Hitler, seized power and used the records to identify, disarm, and attack political opponents and Jews. Constitutional rights were suspended, and mass searches for and seizures of guns and dissident publications ensued. Police revoked gun licenses of Social Democrats and others who were not “politically reliable.”

A total of 13,000 Jews died, about half of them burnt alive or suffocated.

I'm sooooooooo glad I don't live in Britain where the people long ago
    became sheeple.
Australia has gone the same way.
Originally Australia was a penal colony.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convicts_in_Australia
I've read at least 60% of residents of Australia are descendants of former
rapists, murderers, burglars, prostitutes and thieves, etc.
No wonder Aussies aren't trusted with guns or large kitchen knives.
"An armed society is a polite society."
    Or so I've read.

    molon l'abe

Odd that most American Jews are Liberals and anti gun.
That said I know 3 Jewish couples fairly well.
Well enough to know they are ARMED and no weapons are registered
    either.
I am one of the few non Jewish friends that even have a clue they are
armed and CARRY guns where ever they go.
They are aware that they have enemies just because they are Jewish.
I don't need a carry permit but applied for one where I live anyway.
Most active police officers don't even know the law well enough to understand
    I don't need a carry permit.
    How do I know?
A routine 'safety check' and I TOLD the cop I had a concealed weapon and
    he arrested me!
Cost me $3000.00 bucks to get that one dismissed.
    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

In Florida a ccw requires only to demonstrate that you can load and fire
    one shot.
    That's it.
    I go to Florida 3 or 4 X a year and get a permit.
Most people in Florida are armed.
The ones that have any sense.
Lots of Cuban refugees in Florida.
Miami is rotten with criminal invaders.
Almost everything in Miami is written and spoke in Spanish.
I'll never go back there. It's like living in another country.

in Britain 80% of the population live in cities or large urban centres.
city dwellers are anti gun and anti "blood sports".
most of the population is 4 generations removed from the land(not me, my mother was a farmers daughter).
most people don't have a clue where their food comes from, or in some cases even which animal.
friends sister once said to me "meat comes from MacDonalds!"...yeah, right.

    "blood sports"

    I don't hunt blood.
    I hunt tasty critters.
Most sheeple have never seen the inside of a slaughter house.
I have and it ain't purrdy.
Animals are hit with in the head with a sledge and knocked silly
    not dead.
They are then hooked in the leg and hoisted upside down and throats
    slit to bleed out properly.
Hogs aren't even hit in the head but hooked and hoisted squealing like heck
and throats slit to bleed properly.
Dad and I would shoot animals to be slaughtered.
A .22 short to the forehead knocks them out ( I hope ) and we slit
    the throats to bleed proper.
We did butchering for others and many brought buckets to catch the
    blood to make blood food.
Now THAT is a "blood" thing.
I've never eaten blood and never will.

If sheeple knew what was in store bought food they'd throw up.
"Hamburger" has eyeballs, lips, noses, etc, in it.
    100% beef ya know.
Pork sausage? You don't want to know.

I only buy meat from a local supplier at our weekly market.
I haven't bought supermarket meat for 17 years, and the only "take away" I eat is fish and chips, and not even that very often.

Long ago when oldest son was 18 he got a job at McDonald's and won't ever
    eat there.
He said punks would spit in food.
When I was a police officer I only ate at small private places where I knew
the owners who were often the cooks.

My fiance's brother only buys meat from a small shop where he knows the
    owner.
When he has a bbq cookout the food is superb.
He cooks on copper mats and I'm trying to find some for my bbq grill.
Just hand washing the mat is quick and easy. No need to scrape the grill clean.

    http://cyberkam.blogspot.com/2013/05/guerilla-tactics-of-apache-resistance.html

Given their numbers, they were arguably the most effective guerrilla warriors in history. At the time of the Geronimo campaign, one-quarter of the U.S. Army (5000 men) were deployed looking for 50 Apache warriors.

American Natives got a raw deal from white Europeans.
    American shame for sure.
I'm 1/5 th Blackfoot. (dirty foot to some!)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackfoot_Confederacy

Forced onto reservations by whites and starved.
Some were given used blankets infected with small pox.
The Native Americans had zero resistance to diseases brought by whites.

The only good thing Native Americans got from white man was
    the horse.
When a horse got lame or old they ate it.
    Same with dogs.
When not fighting white men they fought each other.
Some tribes exterminated by other tribes.
The Nez Perce were vicious warriors.
small band of 250 Nez Percé warriors, under the leadership of Chief Joseph, held off a U.S. force of 5,000 troops led by Gen. O.O. Howard,

I would prefer some nutty sifi about a comet hitting or dead/undead zombies that snookie getting drunk then following her later in life and her getting preg n not married or Kardassssihians and once Olympian now dude looks like a lady so much more cause her took pills that made him grow breasts. I can't stand that crap. I have watched naked and afraid. They blur out parts. So if you can get past the title. You see people who were "stripped" of the worldly things and put in a difficult situation. After several seasons they start giving themore stuff to help them.

I watch such shows about end of the world. I do think that should not/could not happen. I imagined that zombies can't happen but rabbies could mutate and be similar in nature to a zombie and spread like crazy. So I watch. I will likely watch this show now.

My wife will watch it with me too.

OK, about being removed from the land. Here's a fun joke. Go to a place that sells chicken. Ask for chicken lips. Be serious. My brother and I have done this a hundred times. Its really fun. The new generation gets their chicken from a store. That's where it comes from. When they say they don't have them. Say, "Are you sure. They used to sell them. Not on the menu. Always had to ask for them. Can you get the manager?" We got some good laughs from that one. geez, I swear some kids don't know. On that note.
