I can't speak to our men in blue; however, I get constant feedback on EMS and paramedics. So far, I've NOT been hearing about breakthrough infections being a significant issue in the Mid-Atlantic states.

Chris, the vaccine does not make you 100% immune, it vastly reduces your chances of developing an in infection and most importantly it stops you getting seriously ill and dying from covid. Get covid without the vaccine and you could end up on a ventilator or dead, take the vaccine and you end up with a 'cold'. It also cuts down your ability to infect others.

This tells you a lot about cops who weren't raised learning to shoot, hunt, or have had military training. Many cops have never held a firearm prior to going to police academy. Then, there are the cops who "spray and pray" -- that too shows a profound lack of training.

Holy crap! Glad I live where I live. Deputies here are often hunters and/or ex-combat military. Wife works with a lady whose nephew (?) ran for sheriff. Wife got the low-down on the fellow -- solid candidate + good guy. I met him. We voted for him. He replaced the current sheriff, who to me, looked more like a felon than a law enforcement officer. Our guy got in. He may be the first Black man to be sheriff around here (?); maybe not (?). Glad the dangerous looking sheriff is gone. I've known killers and this former sheriff fit the bill ... creepy.

 

Uniform cops do a great job of writing tickets and protecting criminals from pissed-off citizens that they are robbing or attacking. Past that they don't do much except take statements and protect the doughnut and coffee shops. The only people that they protect are the rich and the politicians.

 

In Texas, if you aren't in a city or town big enough to have a police department you have the Sheriff's department. that means you have very few deputies trying to cover a HUGE area. We have counties in Texas that are as big as some of the smaller states. Don't get in a hurry waiting on them... But then again we tend to handle things like intruders ourselves and just need the sheriff's department to clear the ambulance to haul off the body... If you enter my home at night somebody is going to DIE!

 

It is mostly like that where I live. I never lock my doors and don't even know where a key is for that. There is lot to be said for living in the country at least 25 or 30 miles out of any town big enough to have police.

 

Even though a Heartland place and in the center of agriculture, you sure do have to lock your doors around here. I have a security system. Multicultural. You here them fighting all the time ... in their front yards, out in the street.

This is a big reason for us moving after my retirement.

I don't only leave my door unlocked , I leave it open so that my bad a--ed bitch dog can go and come as she pleases at night . On these hot days , I usually go outside butt naked to my outdoor cowboy style shower to clean up as everything is peaceful , quite and seldom even any traffic coming down my dirt road , no neighbors close enough by to get all worked up about seeing a naked guy . I like after a hot day showering up outside and looking at the night sky and listening to the wild night life . --- As for as the need of police , I would prefer people take care of their own problem and think people should be encouraged to go armed to take out the trash . We would see a dramatic kill off , mostly in Democrat strong holds here in the U.S. , which would be fine by me .
