Could someone tell me how to get this forum to not send me emails? I have unchecked all the email boxes in my browsing preferences but still get email notifications.

 

Don't tell the mods, but I used one of my disposable email addresses I hate getting spammed.

 

Howdy from the Piney Woods of East Texas. This is a great place and getting better all the time. Every new member is an opportunity to learn new things and new views.

 

I managed to get the mailings to stop by unchecking an option found in the "Privacy" settings in my account. And, be sure to hit that "Save" button.

Go to the top of the page, click onto your name and in the drop-down menu, click onto "Privacy."

The privacy option to uncheck reads, "Receive site mailings"

Try that, then log out and back on again.

Hopefully, it will work for you as well as it did for me.

The option to deselect site mailings and hit the save changes button is a standard feature of all the forums I have ever belonged to. One time, I did have trouble with it and that was when I forgot to hit the "save" button.

Another tip:

If you continue to get mailings in spite of selecting preferences in your settings, open one of the emails from this site, scroll down to the bottom for the "fine print" that gives you the option to select the link, "Disable all emails."

I suspect that the forum's software does not always work as it should... (it does seem a little buggy in other areas too), so this trick may cover the holes that appear in spite of selected preferences in the settings.
