    I think if the price is right, the tents could be a good buy. You can even cut & shape it to suit if needs be. Good find Tom.

    No army surplus stores where I live, more is the pitty. I used to love browsing in those stores. Bought gear from an army surplus store in Freemantle W.A. when I got my first bush job in Australia. A first in many adventures to come.

    very few of these stores in the UK, the "local" one I used to go to( 50 mile round trip)closed down last year, most of these sorts of purchases are now online.

    Military surplus tents are frequently better choices than any profitable camping equipment sold in the market. For one thing, they were originally designed to fit on the military, so you're sure that these tents were not made of lower quality material. They were designed to take on the roughest of weather conditions. And since they're on extra, you generally get them at a cheaper price. That's good quality at a low price - the best deal any buyer could ever dream of. It takes a look at the tent's fabric. It might have mold and mildew as well, so you need to wash it carefully and have it out to dry. You'll know that it's totally clean when the fabric doesn't smell terrible anymore.

    okay if your moving everything by vehicle but I spent a lot of my time backpacking and this sort of tent would not be possible on foot.

    Check out www.govplanet.com they have everything from tents, Humvees, to spare parts. It's an auction site, but you can get stuff for dirt cheap.

    I live about 40 miles from Colemans, its a great place, big old warehouse on an old farm but lots of gear and some vehichles.
