This past season I bagged an 8 point just about a half hour after opening day morning on my
little 15 acre woods with my Marlin 45-70 and 300 grain Federal h.p. ammo.

Browning Midas bow, carbon fiber arrows.
I've taken pro'ly 60 + Ohio deer, most with muzzle loaders, shotguns with slugs, and a few
with rifles, my 6.8 s.p.c. AR.
Ohio only allowed certain modern rifles in certain calibers fairly recently.

My "go to" rifle is a Marlin 45-70.
I have many other firearms.

I want to bag a deer with my Smith 8 3/8" .41 magnum.

 

I agree. I had an older Marlin like your old one and took black bear in Canada.

Sadly I got poor and sold it.
When I got a bit less poor I bought the one I have now.

Got an 8 point with the half hour into the 1st morning of gun season.

Bang, flop!
