I love gallows humor !

Above link tells of a legislative proposal for a national program to test for public health dangers like the current COVID-19.

All sounds good. The proposed legislation is: "Timely and Effective Systemic Testing (TEST) Act.

ROFL ! This is award-winning gallows humor !

The original English TEST Act - late 1600s - required Anglican membership to hold public office, civil and military. This TEST Act drifted over here to the colonies. Lord Baltimore's Maryland colony had some problems. Virginia was Anglican / Church of England. Forgot the specific example but it was the North Carolina backwater settlements that had more freedom than Virginia !

Meanwhile, this current pandemic is generating our version of a TEST Act. Love it !

For purists: Believe it or not, we Americans already have a TEST Act. The citizenry is expected to follow America's version of the Oberammergau passion play. The natives taught the English settlers how to grow food, how to fish. Slavery was only in the southern areas. The northern areas like Massachusetts Bay Colony, only had indentured servants and they were well-treated".

The maidens from the Irish laundries only ironed collars for shirts.
