Personally, I rely on a 4th aspect besides "Run,Hide, Fight". If the place isn't initially secure - an enclosed shopping mall is the classic example - it's not visited by me.

There are areas of the world where security is geometrically better than in Middle America. These foreign principles of security are not used here much because of US labor economics and labor politics.
