    I have spent a lot of time with persons that might be called "alternative", bikers, hippies, homeless, and I would rather be amongst them in a disaster that any "normal" citizen sheeple.

    Good morning all,

    To those above categories, I'd add:
    - the disabled
    - the recent-disaster disabled
    - non-English speaking foreigners (many in this area)

    I trace this relatively recent subject to JFK and his "jet set" / "beautiful people" crowd. Everyone doesn't go boating offshore Cape Cod.

    really??? foreigners maybe-if they come from a rural community, but disabled??don't think so, disabled will be one of the first categories to succumb.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

    We have disabled outperforming the "abled".

    Technically speaking, I am disabled.

    For those stuck in a wheel chair or needing a daily dialysis machine, as long as one's longevity is understood and accepted, these folks have value.

    We've got a lot - relatively speaking - of foreigners here from foreign militaries. and foreign civil services. They're knowledgeable and can guess not all from rural backgrounds.

    in a SHTF situation any outside agency will cease to function, anyone relying on such assistance will be in for a shock.
    foreign immigrants in the UK are located in the big cities not out in the sticks and will suffer the same sort of problems as other city dwellers.
    Pragmatist your posts do make me smile.
