Storm Preps Here In Virginia....

This weekend I made sure to top off my car and truck. My scooter fuel cans were topped off from last week....so they are mostly full except that used in the lawn mower.

Also this weekend I purchased another two cases of bottled water.....though iIalso have several those military Tan looking jerry cans for water. Some of the big 5 gallon water bottles too.

This leaves two cases of water here in the house and two each for my car and also two for the back of the truck. If nothing happens they will be consumed.


Food stuffs have been topped off....

If it comes to it.....plans are to do last minute clothes washing and drying...then thoroughly rinse out the washer and fill with water..

Same with the bath tubs......everyone gets cleaned up ...then the tubs.....cleaned then filled with water...

This I learned as a teenager living in Japan for three years during the typhoons....which would come ashore.

One needs to be prepared to go this route should the water be shut down for a period of time.

Also have tools and such to secure lawn furniture et al.....that which will not be taken into the garage..

Meds are in good shape....generators ready to go...

Battery supplies in good shape too.

Comms. are ready to go as well.

Most of these preps I wanted to have in place well before a storm bears down on us...as I do not like running around in the stores at the last minute with all the desperate crowds.....competing for Dwindling resources.


Looks like hurricane Lee may be turning north before it gets too close to here....but need to keep an eye on it nonetheless.

Also there is another potential storm brewing up off the coast of Africa following Lee....


But ...those of us who have been out here awhile...know that Mother Nature can be a very very rough taskmaster....


Praying that we get through another year with no storm.....

I meant what I said about desperate crowds...who make no plans or preps.....but can get ready for tonight's game on the television...et al.

You do not want to be dealing with these people in the stores at the last minute....they can be seriously two legged wildlife...

Best to have most of your preps in position well ahead of time ..not at the last minute.

But you members decide for yourselves...you are driving your own bus here..

Looks like Lee will head out to sea before getting to thee.

Nevertheless

Mother Nature will do as She wishes.

Wouldn't it be fascinating were Lee to head north, then head due west into New York! Two week power outage in the megalopolis. Too much to hope for, I guess. That would be a dynamite sociology test. Those who've sold their souls seem never to get tested.

DeSantis caught serious national flack from the socialist media when he warned looters not to engage in their favorite pastime post hurricane Idalia. He told them they might just get shot. The redistributionists don't care if the redistribution is illegal.

Losing potential Democrat voters to gunfire is a concern for the Left.

I note that very few were arrested for looting. Seems maybe they took the governor's advice.

Stealing from storm victims deserves lead poisoning. The shameless aggressors need to be culled.

Coastal folk need to keep their bathtubs very clean during storm seasons. If the power looks like it could be cut, one should fill-up the bathtub with water for the this'n'thats. Always use your water purifiers on the tub water -- it starting-off with chlorine doesn't mean that the bacteria will not begin growing in it when stagnant.

Here, you can't trust mountain water due to giardia.

More Governors need to so state.

Here's an observation that just popped into this gray haired head of mine.

During a riot w/looting, the motivations are anger and greed. Bad enough those.

Post SHTF, the primary motivation is likely to be desperation. That is the worst.

The old saying, "If you back a mouse into a corner, it will fight," truly applies to the latter. It won't be just young men wilding.
Men and WOMEN of all ages will be hungry, at their wits' end, and may also have hungry children to feed. That is a formula for hyper-violence. Young men when shot-at over their stupid behavior, may run away, move on to another target. People in desperation mode will act like zombies, but unlike the movies, they won't just be shuffling their feet. They will be wide-eyed, beyond persistent, and will keep on coming until put down.

Home-owners SHTF must take into consideration the desperation-factor driving people during such profoundly unnatural times. Most people have not witnessed other people totally out of control. And the normal behavior of those we imagine we know could easily go upside-down. The bad could turn good or the good could turn bad. You don't know. When put under unbearable stress, all bets are off as to how people will behave.

I have actually had people tell me that in SHTF or worse they will come here.....

No thanks.

I am not interested into Breast Feeding them and their flocks by Entitlement...cleaning up after them as well.

While I like many of these people and their families....I am not interested in subsidizing them good times or bad.

These people are good to go in good times...but in bad times they are a train wreck....we in my family call them...."Good Time Charlies."

They know where are to be found the good times..but when the rough stuff comes along they disappear and or go somewhere else...they are high maintenance.....them and their flocks.

I generally do not want these types around me for long....because I have seen too many of them out here and put them in with the Ishmaelites.

These types can smile at you while putting more and more Ishmaelite burdens on you and your flock...but they have no real fall back position...and no plans for such.

Post SHTF, visitors won't / can't be welcome. Am I including family members? Oh yes.

All of my relatives are dead. Only my adult sons remain alive. These guys are beyond trustworthy. My wife's family (large) don't keep in touch with her anymore. Her brother who was a great friend of mine got killed. Another brother was psycho-central (drug abuser and whatever else) is dead. The others are scattered across the nation. We're in no position to take them in.

Post SHTF, don't bang on my door. Might cause health problems for those who do.
