    Wish this article had come out before my recent LifeStraw Personal purchase, I'd have gone with the H2O Survival Filter Travel Straw instead.

    My personal experience , those suck it through the filter and drink systems seems to work just fine for the individual , but for more than one person a different system might be more appropriate . You will need cooking water and not all foods require bringing water to a boil and you certainly don't want to find yourself sucking water through a straw and spiting it in a pot .

    Thinking the same. With a manual transfer pump you could probably use the straw-types as inline filters like the Sawyer, but for home / BOL use something like a Berkey would be better - just be sure to get the black filters.
