Surviving a collapsing pit

    Some people work in mines where there is a possibility of a total or partial collapse or even debris or boulders landing on them. I have read of stories of miners trapped in such pits with some being rescued after quite a number of days. What preparations are supposed to be done with such an eventuality in mind?
