Whatever you want to call the collapse, degeneration is likely to be accompanied by the break down and even obliteration of all of the mechanisms and social structure that today we take for granted.
this includes civil structures such as the legal system, the Police and a wide range of general services provided by local and national government-all of which we take for granted until they are no longer there.
At some point during the progression of the event or events the ability of business to function effectively will begin to deteriorate , perhaps rapidly so.
Distribution of goods, services and food will fail, as will the system of credit and thus the role of banks and even the role of money, at some point commerce as we know it will cease to exist.
We are in a situation now where we are so specialised that it is virtually impossible to realise our level of technology without the infrastructure to support it.
we are so inter connected now that the world would be affected if our civilisation collapses.
This new fangled "civilisation" thing has only been around for 5,000 years or so( depending on what you call civilisation) and for 90% of our time on this planet humans lived in small bands of hunter/gatherers.
It is wise to know that over 90% of the species that once lived on the planet Earth are now extinct.

The first problem we have to consider is whether the collapse will be fast or slow, taking many months or even a couple of years to unfold or if it will take just a few weeks or months.
One thing is certain, sometime during the course of events the power grid will fail, this in turn will cause a cascade failure of all electrical based systems including water, food processing, delivery and all electronic communications systems which will cause mass panic.
A rush for any food stocks and medical supplies will occur, crime rates will rise over the first few weeks although they had probably been rising before anyway.
Law enforcement and military intervention will be over run and collapse internally, Government systems will collapse entirely.

We are far too dependent on technology and the government to get us through. Whether the collapse is fast or slow, as you point out, the end game will be the same, I suspect. This pandemic has shown just how vulnerable we are. The shortfall of medicines is a very daunting prospect for those of us who regularly take medicine. I don't know about other countries (well, I know what the UK is like, or did know. I don't expect it's changed much) but in Australia it's very difficult to stockpile prescription medicines.

You can basically make do regarding other factors, such as water, power, etc. But unless you are a chemist or have connections, it would be very difficult to procure necessary prescription medicine.

you are not wrong, in the UK it is impossible to stockpile any sort of prescription medicine, by ordering early we could stock a couple of months worth but thats probably about all.
over the counter stuff isnt a problem but prescription stuff is another matter.
some herbal natural remedies would be available for minor ailments but anything major would not be possible.

Another interesting article on the subject:

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-01...g-to-medicine-shortages-out-of-stock/13078282

There was something on the news last night actually about children with some sort of autoimmune disease like rheumatic arthritis or something along those lines. Due to the pandemic, the parents aren't able to get the medication, which has left kids in incredible pain. I tried to find the information online but can't seem to locate it. They showcased a toddler who was in so much agony when she tried to walk, that she was screaming and crying in pain. The parents have had to ration the medication because they simply can't get it.

Now in my mind, that is extremely worrying.

One "trick" I use to get a bit of a stockpile of antibiotics is to go to the doctor with a bogus toothache. They always prescribe antibiotics. I tell the quack that I can't get in to see the dentist for over a week. They don't like prescribing pain meds here so you've got yours and buckleys of being able to stockpile those. Antibiotics always come in handy though.

I havent been able to get hold of any antibiotics myself, I've only ever used them twice in my entire life and one of those was a dental abcess, I know we can use fish antibiotics but I am not happy with using those. there are natural antibiotics, garlic for one, there are others(ginger etc.).

I don't use them often. However, I have given them to my son and his girlfriend when they have had issues with toothache, as well as using them myself for toothache. They are very handy to have stashed away. Tooth pain is unbearable and antibiotics certainly help.

Yes, I'd heard about garlic and ginger. A woman I know who lives around here ate cloves of raw garlic every day when the pandemic started. (I know - does nothing for viruses but can't hurt I suppose, given their healing properties). If she didn't kill of any germs, she certainly killed off any close encounters of the human kind!

"Emergency Meds: How YOU Can Use Veterinary Drugs In A Crisis"

    https://www.offthegridnews.com/extr...how-you-can-use-veterinary-drugs-in-a-crisis/

I recommend reading the entire article, because the entirety of it is very good info. I'm only going to post a few paragraphs and these quotes will be in the color Blue:

Many missionaries confronted with staggering levels of infection, disease and illness have pioneered the use of veterinarian medicines to treat human illness and injury. Some have written books outlining the ways they have converted dosages and identifying names of veterinarian medicines that cross over to human conditions.

There is a significant caution with this approach, and that is to make sure that both the correct medicine and correct dosage are used when considering a medicine designed for animals and administered to a human. Most of the literature on this subject offers conversion charts. The Physician’s Desk Reference is also an excellent resource.

The information in this article is only to be used in the event of a natural or man-made emergency, when prescriptions are either not available or no longer being manufactured.

    Why Veterinary Meds?

The reason veterinarian resources are sometimes used to treat human conditions is simple: desperate need. In many parts of the world, necessary medicines are either not available, are needed immediately or needed in massive quantities that cannot be satisfied. The result is that many people are at risk unless some treatment is administered, and veterinarian meds are often the only resource available to serve that role.

    Relevant Conditions

The types of conditions affecting humans that are treated with veterinary meds include various forms of disease and infection caused by bacteria. Veterinary meds for pain cannot be purchased without a prescription from veterinary resources for any reason. The potential for the abuse of meds that fall in the category of narcotics is just too great. Bacterial disease is another story. Each is life-threatening in its own way and can be effectively treated with the proper alignment of medicine and dosage.

    Where to Find Veterinary Meds

Resources for these medicines can be found in various livestock and veterinarian catalogs, with clearly identify dosage and sometimes the same pharmaceutical name as its human counterpart. Cal-Vet Supply is a good place to start. At companies like these you will see amoxicillin referred to as amoxicillin, tetracycline referred to as tetracycline etc.

Get Delicious, Nutrient-Dense Heirloom Seeds Here!

However, some have different trade names relevant to the animal, such as “fish-cillin.” It’s a bit disconcerting to consider taking fish-cillin or fish-mox as a source for amoxicillin, but once again we’re talking about desperate times. What’s critical is that the active ingredients are the same.

Another factor affecting dosage is the small size of some animals. As a result, inactive ingredients are added as fillers to create a measurable dose. Pay close attention to the percentage of active ingredients and the source of the inactive ingredients. It’s best to try to find dosages with no or little fillers.

    What to Look for

A critical fact to remember is that the pill shape, color and any number coding on pharmaceuticals are identical for both human and animal consumption. This coding is referred to as the USP Verified Pharmaceutical Ingredient Mark. This is so a hospital or doctor can identify a veterinary pill that may have been ingested accidentally. In this instance, the ingestion of the veterinary med is intentional and the consistent use of the number identification and the type of pharmaceutical can be confirmed at Drugs.com. Other resources like this include WebMD and RxList.com.

New Mini Pocket Power Plus Can Charge All Your Electronics — And Jump Start Your Car!

This is significant because it proves that the veterinary medicines are in fact identical. If you see an animal drug that is labeled, “UPS Pharmaceutical grade Amoxicillin,” you can be assured it is the exact same pharmaceutical grade amoxicillin that your doctor would prescribe to you for various infections.

    Safer than International, Internet Pharmacies

The result is that you will have a better chance of finding a safer and tested pharmaceutical from a veterinarian source rather than the meds sold by international, Internet pharmacies who often sell fraudulent products without any governmental standards or testing. In fact, the FDA estimates that a significant amount of drugs available in Mexico may be counterfeit.

You could also ask your doctor to give you a prescription for emergencies, but most doctors will refuse to do so. That’s why the veterinary option is a consideration.

There's lots of places from which one can order vet meds. Farmers and ranchers vaccinate and give antibiotics to their critters. They're not going to call in a veterinarian for run-of-the-mill issues -- that is WAY expensive. I can't tell you where to get syringes. You may just be able to buy them at a pharmacy. Tell them that you are a diabetic. Here in the U.S. some health departments supply syringes to heroin addicts -- tell them that you mean to get off the horse and take methadone ... starting next week.

To order any meds for animals in Aus such as antibiotics and analgesics, (other than standard over the counter flea, tick meds, etc) you have to have a veterinary prescription, even if you order online.

Are Australian "citizens" allowed to do anything? Seems the Aussie collectivist overlords consider the citizenry only children who must be micromanaged.

"Don't fall and skin your knee, sweethart!"

Me, I actually think that collectivist overlords are rapists and murderers. They should have their knees snapped backwards.

The pills are great and we are sort of mentally trained to considder them a must have go to but people got along amazingly well for a long time with only natural treatments. No, they are not as strong or effective as modern pills but they are out there free for the taking. There are a lot of good books out there about these things and even if you don't want to mess with that now having the books and or knowledge before you need it will be smart. A lot of these plants can be grown in your flower garden and just ignored until you need them.

    https://iliasbafas.wordpress.com/2015/12/28/the-invalid-australian-government/

In years to come when China has a dispute – not “if” – but when China and the unlawful Australian Government have any dispute over for example; the leases of Australian Shipping Ports and or Farming issues, the disputes will be delt with under international law in the international courts. China has not signed agreements that positioned China to be in a ‘hostage’ situation in Australia – when this time arrives, the world will learn the “Can Of Worms” that explodes with the invalid Australian legal system!

The Australian people must address this nightmare and lead this matter, to keep the future of Australia in their hands!!!

the trouble with all the pharmacutical and even animal/fish drugs in a major catastrophe is when they all get used up because the supply chain and the manufacturing base has collapsed.
before science came along all we had were natural remedies, some worked, some didnt, but most of what we use in the modern world is based on these old remedies, I'm not a lover of modern medicines that take just one element of the natural cure and discard the rest, there are many side effects of modern medicines which in turn need another pill to cure which causes another side effect and so on. modern medicine has now discarded even the natural elements and most medicine now seems to be based on the oil industry.

Pharmaceuticals are distributed to the continents in powder form and are then reconstituted. In powdered form they last on and on. One physician of mine when serving in the military reconstituted these puppies all the time. There are warehouses full of these Rx's. The military preps also.
