Article superficially about UN rap specialists complaint to government of Venezuela about Venezuela's situation.

Article reminded me of a high school break session (recess ?) where a teacher - WWII ETO, Korean War - replied to something said by one of us high school "students" that appealing a Third Reich trial court's decision to a Third Reich appellate court was a waste of time. It took a couple of years after high school for the teacher's point to "soak in".

The quote "Hospitals ... shortage ... protective equipment ... " ...... Wait 'till they finish lunch at that Geneva restaurant and see on large screen that medical supplies, equipment, are in short supply to non-existent in many, many, many other places also. This UN's article lead picture shows the Venezuelan mother with her 5 children. As dire as this situation is - I accept it is tragic - her kids are still alive.

This is a good article for our members to look at . Take note of the list of problems the article presents . Everyone of the problems can now be seen growing and festering on the world stage . I especially liked the wrongful imprisonment of people as an example " it makes me think of the Mikel Flynn case here in the U.S. " . How long it will take I don't know , but this I believe is the future of the rest of the planet . That is why I keep trying " even though I know it is futile " to get people to realize just storing up some extra food as their only plan , will not be a successful plan after multiple years of an Venezuela life style has arrived to their location . True these impoverished people exist but as preppers we should strive to do more for our descendants than to leave them trying to survive in such a condition . I recall a story one of my group encountered in an impoverished country . He was there to restore electricity after a hurricane . The people would come out of their shacks to cheer whenever the electrical crew passed through their village . He had a woman on her knees in front of him thanking him , which he pulled back up to her feet . Don't leave your children to live in such conditions . Long after you are dead you may be remembered as the ancestor that prepared for their future .

I know I can not convince the world of the approaching catastrophe awaiting mankind , so my efforts focus on my family . I was fortunate enough to be able to give free land to all of my children . Now as a group we work together preparing for teotwawki . Later today we plan to be putting in a water line for one of the group that is in another state making money for the forth house we are starting on . This will be the third of the four houses with no mortgage . Paid for and built ourselves . Few people are as prepared as my group but we are always looking for ways to improve and prepare to a higher degree . Working as a team to support each other , we achieve goals that would be daunting if tried by an individual .

 

If you were operating as mutually supporting close knit group, might wanna consider building your dwellings as a redoubt, thus making it a hard target for anyone to assail.

The culprit is probably the testosterone person. Women are treated like trash in that once rich country. It's similar to Haiti and areas near me.

 

A good suggestion Varuna - but in our case it would take about a mile of barrier to enclose all our dwellings . We are simply too spread out for that to be defensible . Better for us considering our woodland and warfare skill sets to confront the enemy in the way we know best . Already on occasion setting up for nighttime combat when we go into red alert . I am expecting nighttime military style combat tactics to escalate as a lot of prisons have released their guests onto the public due to the virus . Also compounding the danger level is the massive job losses . One of the first things I do after daybreak is to make a patrol and look for anything that might have been stolen .

 

A redoubt doesn't mean you were enclosed within curtain wall. A redoubt is a system where strong points be that bunker, pillbox, or even foxhole have interlocking field of fire. Having earthwork enclosure is good but not mandatory for the system to work.

Obviously having two set of M19 (60mm mortar) along with a M2 howitzer (105mm) are always a great option to have for that area size

Unless everybody is well versed (actual combat experience or well trained) in night time fighting I don't recommended going that way even when well equipped. Blue-on-Blue is real concern even in regular infantry particularly in joint operation (units from different service branch or country)

 

Our nighttime weapons of choice is shotguns . We occasionally have skeet shooting practice off the back porch throwing the skeets up by a mountain cliff . The chances of one of our group missing an advisory in the dark is next to none . Everyone knows their assigned nighttime firefight area . We have a roll of razor wire but that is only enough but perhaps to channel the enemy . We have one bad dog that loves to attack and a bloodhound for trailing up and finishing the mop up .
